Dear Campers,
Greetings in the Lord’s name. We look forward with excitement at what God has in store as this year’s camp draws near!
Camp Period: 12th- 15th June 2014
Camp Venue: Hotel Equatorial Melaka
Date of Departure: Thurs, 12th June 2014
Place of Assembly: AMKMC, Sanctuary 1, Level 1
Reporting Time: 0845hrs
Departure Time: 0915hrs
Please take note of the following:
1. Pray for the speaker Pastor Ng Chye Aik as he ministers the Word of God to us and for church members as they engage our children in the Word during the children’s programme.
2. A camp handout will be distributed on the day of departure which will include the camp programme, camp rules, duty team members, etc. It will also contain teaching notes and reflection questions on the camp theme: ‘Change: From The Inside Out’.
3. All campers aged 4 and above will be issued with a lanyard name tag before departure. Please wear this lanyard at all times during the camp and return it prior to leaving the hotel.
4. Please ensure that you bring along any personal medication for you and your family members where required. Please also inform the Camp Commandant in advance if you have a medical condition which the Camp Committee should be aware of.
5. The total journey time from Singapore to Malacca is estimated to last 4-5 hours (inclusive of a 1-hour lunch stop at Yong Peng). As such, you are advised to dress comfortably. As there are no toilets on the buses, you can request your Bus IC to stop the bus if necessary.
6. Bus lists have been posted on the church website. Please do not change your assigned bus as the bus lists have been planned according to the hotel accommodation lists. Please follow the directions of your Bus IC.
7. Please remember to bring the following items:
Ø Bible
Ø Stationery/Notepad/Personal Journal
Ø Warm-enough clothing for yourself and your children - not just because of the air-conditioned buses but the hotel ballroom and function rooms can get chilly as well
Ø Rackets and balls for tennis/Exercise gear for gym workouts (optional)
Ø Sufficient clothes for 4 days, including swim wear if you would like to use the pool
Ø Sufficient Malaysian currency for personal use [there will be 2 lunches enroute (12th and 15th June) and 1 dinner (13th June) on your own; all other meals will be provided]
8. For this year, please note that the welcome segment and first teaching session will start as early as 1445hrs, soon after the buses arrive at the hotel. Since there is another church group departing the hotel only that day, our rooms will not be ready for check-in until after 1700hrs. Please follow the signages and the Camp Committee’s directions once you arrive at the hotel, and proceed to the Melaka I function room after depositing your luggage.
9. Please make sure your passport is valid.
- For those travelling with babies, please ensure your baby’s passport photo is updated.
- For those travelling with domestic helpers, please ensure you bring along their passports and work permit cards (original) as well.
10. For non-Singaporeans, please ensure you have the necessary visas to travel into Malaysia.
11. For those who are driving to Hotel Equatorial Melaka, please plan to arrive by 1400hrs and deposit your luggage at Foyer II, Level 2. You can then collect your camp handouts from the Camp Committee there.
12. As always, there will be a Celebration Night on the last night of the camp, this time featuring the theme ‘Change Across the Generations’. Come dressed inter-generationally (ie. away from our current generation) to symbolise our transformation through the ages. For example:
è Parents could come dressed as children or teenagers (old school uniform or playful attire), and children in turn could come dressed as adults (tuxedos for boys, ball gowns for girls)
è Or ask yourself: How were you dressed 10-20 years ago during those “wilder days”? Show us!
è Or you may even interpret the inter-generational theme as pointing to the future. How you would see yourself attired in 20-30 years’ time as you grow older, wiser and goofier? J
To make Celebration Night a fun and memorable event, we ask all campers to dress according to the spirit of the theme. Best Dressed awards will be given out to individuals and groups too!
13. We will provide basic insurance coverage for the 2-way bus trip as well as throughout the 4 days of the camp. You may like to get your own personal travel insurance to supplement this basic coverage. We also seek your understanding and cooperation not to leave your cars parked in church over the weekend of the camp.
14. For the home trip, the buses are expected to arrive in Singapore on 15th June at about 1600hrs. You will be dropped off at Ang Mo Kio Methodist Church.
Where necessary, we will post other details and updates on the church website – so do check it often between now and the start of camp. For all other queries, please contact Thomas Tan () or any of the AMKMC Camp Committee members. For queries on the Celebration Night, please contact Clarence Chang ().
Thanks & see you all very soon!
In His Love,
Church Camp 2014 Committee
