Principles of racketlon

According to the IRF official rules of racketlon (as published on www.racketlon.com) the following three principles must be fulfilled in order for a sport to qualify for the term Racketlon:

·  The game must include the following four sports: table tennis, badminton, squash and tennis

·  The game must be built on the concept of a racketlon match involving the same two individuals (pairs in doubles) playing each other in all four sports - with identically formatted sets being played in each sport.

·  Each rally must count. The player (pair) who wins most rallies in total is the winner of the racketlon match.

Rules

Official IRF Rules apply. See www.racketlon.com (under ABOUT). In summary:

·  In a racketlon match, two players challenge each other in all four racket sports. One set in each sport.

·  Each point counts. The winner is the one who scores the most points in total.

·  Each set is played to 21 points with the following exception: At 20-20 the set is extended until there is a two point difference between the players (You can win by e.g. 25-23 but never with 21-20.)

·  Each serve game contains five serves. The server decides what side to start from.

·  Matches are played in the following sequence: table tennis, badminton, squash and tennis.

·  At the beginning of each sport lots are drawn. The winner chooses either to serve, receive or from which end to start. The other player gets the remaining choice.

·  There is a first and a second serve in tennis.

·  Ends are switched at 11. During changeover, players are allowed a break of max one minute (this is valid for squash as well eventhough there are no change of ends).

·  Otherwise, the respective official rules apply for each sport.
