The author of Resistance Behind Bars: TheStruggles of Incarcerated Women, will discuss theparallels between the history of prisons as gendercontrol in both the U.S. and Canada, collectiveorganizing and individual resistance among womenincarcerated, and what social justice activists can do to offer support.

9:00-11:30 PM: Anarchist Music Night

An evening of music fused with revolutionary politics. Featured artists include:

11:00-1:00: Zine Making 101

Presenters: Sam and Matt of the Zine Tree Collective

This workshop will go over what a zine is, zine formatting, and distribution. Participants will each design a page for a collaborative zine, and leave with their own copy of the zine at the end of the day.

12:00-1:00: Approaching Anarchist Education

Join our keynote speaker for a frank discussion on gender and incarceration, resistance within prison walls, and the broader prison abolition movement.

3:30-4:30: Sexualized Violence in Activist Communities

Presenters: Pragya and Monika (Edmonton, AB)

An exploration and discussion of how we can recognize sexualized violence in activist communities, and support those who have experienced sexual assault.

4:30-6:30: Resistance 2010: The Anti-Olympics Movement

Presenters: Harsha Wallia of the Olympics Resistance

Movement (Vancouver, BC)

This workshop will discuss the impacts of the
upcoming 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver and Whistler, BC. Anti-Olympics organizing through the Olympic Resistance Network is largely being done under the primary slogan and understanding of “No Olympics on Stolen Native Land”, although this is an opportunity for a large convergence of groups, issues, and sectors to work (and struggle) together.

7:00-11:30: Anarchist Bookfair 80’s Dance Party!

Come celebrate anarchism and the 80's. Dress up and dance! This will be all ages, with alcohol sales.
The A and W Sound System with DJ Ambuhguhs and DJ Wootbeeah and Dance Dance Queer Revolution DJ Karen Campos will keep the beats going, and admission is by donation!

Fat is a descriptive word that should not have so much baggage attached to it. Come debunk the myths about fat, and learn how fatphobia in reinforced by the patriarchy and capitalism.

Join the Edmonton IWW for discussions about organizing on the job. We’ll start with an interactive role play where participants get to see and talk about what we're up against as workers. Come learn how to write and draw your own stories with big surprises and laughs, methods based on Lynda Barry's book "What it is". Bring your favourite pens and paper or make do with what is given you.
