RE: WELCOME TO BOKSBURG ATHLETIC CLUB

Thank you for choosing Boksburg Athletic Club to help you with your road running, track and field and cross-country needs during the 2015 season.

Some general information that you will find handy:

1.When you join Boksburg Athletic Club you will receive,either electronically or by hand, a “2015 Boksburg Athletic Club Training Calendar”. The 2015 Boksburg Athletic Club Training calendar will advise you of the following:

Certain Roadraces on the ASA Calendar. Boksburg Athletic Club will have an umbrella/gazebo for its members, at most of the Gauteng races. (Check Snippets/Website).

Please note that the Club will not be held responsible for any theft of kit bags, car keys, mobile phonesetc if they are left under the umbrella unattended at races. Please use the official race Tog Bag area.

Training runs or Café Runs, Time Trialsand the 2 road races that are organised by the Boksburg Athletic Club committee members and members of the club.

Boksburg Athletic Club host two road races during the year, the Colgate 15/32km (May 03, 2015) and the East Rand Value Mall and Sportsman’s Warehouse 15km (October 25, 2015). NO member of Boksburg Athletic Club will be allowed to run these 2 races as they will beassisting on race day. A pre-race will be held for all Boksburg Athletic Club members. Upon re-joining, or joining the club for the first time, you will be requested to advise where you are prepared to work at both races. PLEASE DIAIRISE THESE DATES NOW.

Training runs or Café Runs will be organised when there are no races on the CGA calendar or when the races that are taking place are out of the Ekurhuleni/Johannesburg area:

Track Meetings: You will be advised of dates and venues of Track and Field meetings in South Africa and overseas once ASA and CGA have advised the clubs thereof.

Cross Country: You will be advised of dates and venues of CGA League Meetings, CGA Cross Country Champs and SA CrossCountry Champs once ASA and CGA have advised the clubs thereof.

TimeTrials: where these are held and at what time. (Start time varies during Summer and Winter)

SocialEvents: Pub Evenings, Bingo Evening, Comrades Chairman’s Breakfast/Pasta Party, Aches and Pains Party, Annual/Comrades Dinner Dance, Annual General Meeting, Annual Prize Giving, Golf Day. (You will be advised of the dates of all the Social events.) Pub will be open every Wednesday after time trails, other than when there is a night race taking place in the Ekurhuleni area.

2.Clubcolours are obtainable from the office. Club colours consist of the vest or lycra top (for ladies), having alternate hoops of5cm each of royal blue and white, and the shorts are royal blue with white piping around the legs and up the sides or royal blue lycra shorts with white piping and Boksburg Athletic Club logo or Royal blue skirt/skort with white piping around the hem and up either side. You can expect to payapproximately R350.00 for the shorts and vest. (Please ensure that the shorts have white piping around the legs and up the sides).

Plain Royal Blue Lycra shorts are available at Optimum Running – 17 Tim Street, Boksburg West (Darrel 082 807 9606 or 011 383 3115) for those wishing to wear themunder their shorts.

(PLEASE DO NOT WEAR ANY OTHER COLOUR LYCRA SHORTS).

As per CGA regulations if you are NOT wearing the correct club kit and the referees observe this you will be disqualified. As per the Constitution members are obliged to wear the correct club colours for all events entered and participated in. Disciplinary action may be taken for non-compliance.

3.It is expected that a member wearing club colours will be a credit to Boksburg Athletic Club at all times.

Wear your club colours with pride and do not bring the club in disrepute. Always be courteous to

race organisers and helpers at races, they are all volunteers and are providing you with a service.

4.The OfficialAbbreviation for the Club is “BOKS”. (To be used at all Cross Country, Track and Field and Road events). Please do not use “BAC” as it is not the official abbreviation.

5.Participants in road races, cross country and track and field events are to wear BOTH licence numbers

when competing. (1 on the front of your vest and 1 on the back of your vest). You WILL be disqualified should you only wear 1 licence number.

Should you enter a race and you are given a race number please wear the race number on top of

your licence number on the front of your vest. Do NOT take off the licence number on the front of your

vest.

6.“Snippets” are sent out on aweekly basis advising members of activities, this is done via email and also placed on the notice board downstairs from the office. (Please avail the office of an email address

that can be used to send you the weekly Snippets.) Snippets are also available on the website.

8.The Club and Office is based at the Boksburg City Stadium, Club Room No.2, Cnr Jubilee Road and

Dudley Smith Road, Boksburg South.

9.The Office hours are : Monday to Thursday:08:30 – 13:45

Friday :08:30 – 13:00

Please phone before to ensure the secretary is not out on office business (e.g. bank or CGA)

10.If you cannot make it to the office during these times see note on EFT payment/Direct Deposit on page 3.

11.Please join in our weekly club activities. An updated roster will be emailed to you shortly.

12.The “Finish Line” Pub is open every Wednesday night after Time Trials, ± 18h30, where you can socialise with fellow members.

13.New members who would like to train for Comrades or who are looking for a specific coach for track

and fieldand cross country please speak to Linda in the office and she will advise you of the name of the relevant coach or person in the club to speak to.

14.A 2015CGA Booklet will be available from CGA at a cost of R10.00 and will advise you of the following:

Telephone Numbers of relevant contact persons at CGA.

CrossCountry information re: League Meetings, League Procedures, League Scoring etc.

TrackandField information re: Fixture List, Championship Information.

RoadRunning information re: Domestic Rules, Competitions, 2015 Road Calendar, General Information and names of other clubs in CGA.

These booklets can be purchased from the CGA offices at the Germiston City Stadium.

As per Boksburg Athletic Club Constitution

8.6.1 Subscriptions are due and payable from the 1st day of December of each year.

8.6.2 Members may not participate in any event in Boksburg Athletic Club colours if subscription fees

are not paid in full by the 31st January of the following year.

8.6.3The Club reserves the right to negotiate an alternative payment arrangement.

8.6.4Boksburg Athletic Club membership fees are independent of the CGA licence availability and it’s fee.

8.6.5Boksburg Athletic Club members, active and participating in CGA and ASA events, shall be

licensed members of CGA.

8.9 All active members of the Club shall be licensed with the CGA at the beginning of each calendar

year.

PROCEDURE:

1. Completed forms together with your remittance to be handed in at the office.

2.You may renew your 2015membership from 07November, 2014 onwards.

It is preferred that payment, other than EFT or Direct Deposit be made by cheque, made out to

Boksburg Athletic Club. If paying by cash, please ensure that you have the correct amount.

3.If you cannot make it to the office during the above hours you can do a bank deposit/electronic fund

transfer and then fax a copy of the transfer plus your Application for Membership form through to the office.

You will then be added onto the system. You will have to come through to the office at some point to pick up your licence number and if necessary kit. (Please quote your Name and Surname as well as 2015 Membership in the reference on the bank deposit slip).
