Monarch’s Facebook Page

To have a monarch control a country in Europe in the 1500’s and 1600’s was a very common practice. However, whenever a new monarch comes to power, they tend to make changes to the country’s economic, political, and social policies. These policies may or may not be beneficial to the inhabitants of that country. Many monarchs faced harsh criticism from their people while others were praised and loved on their decisions made for their country.

Task:

A. You will be working individually to complete a Facebook page for one of the following European monarchs (Mary I, Henry VIII, Louis XIV, Peter the Great, Elizabeth I, James I, Philip II, and Charles I, James II, Charles II). Your page will be made accessible to you when you log on into the computers in the classroom. DO NOT GO HOME AND MAKE A FACEBOOK ACCOUNT FOR YOUR MONARCH. You will have to do research using the textbook and any site from the schools electronic databases. You will need to find, 3 social, 3 political reforms, key struggles and any key accomplishments your monarch made for their country. Keep in mind that not every reform was accepted by the people but rather enforced by the King. Remember this is a Facebook page so include a picture of your ruler, birthdate/passing date, birthplace, family name, some “Facebook friends”, as well as groups your monarch would be a member of.

B. You will present your Facebook page to your class. The presentation must be a minimum of 3 minutes≥ See rubric on how you will be graded.
