Please note SATs for Year 6 children are the week Monday 14th - Thursday 17th May 2018 and phonics tests for Year 1 are held in the week of Monday 11th – 15th June 2018 (dates provided by Department for Education). The Key Stage 1 national curriculum will also be assessed for Year 2 children, with tests taken in May 2018. If your child is due to take any tests please avoid absences in this period.
From 1stSeptember 2013,the law gives no entitlement to parents / guardians to take their child on holiday during term time. Any application for leave must only be in exceptional circumstances and the Headteacher must be satisfied that the circumstances are exceptional and warrant the authorising of leave. Parents can be fined by the Local Authority for taking their child on holiday during term time without authorisation from school.
During the week of statutory tests for Year 1 (June) and Year 6 (May) children, NO ABSENCES will be authorised under any circumstances, arrangements must be made for children to take the tests.
Parents are still required to complete a ‘Leave of Absence in Term Time’ form to apply for exceptional leave during term time. Do not book your flights or accommodation until you have had your application form returned from school notifying you whether the leave of absence has been authorised or not.
