AFTER THE INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE EXHIBITION OF MILAN, NOW IT'S NEW YORK'S TURN:

SCM GROUP IS MAKING ITS DÉBUT AT ICFF 2013 TOO,

ACCOMPANYING THE SAN PATRIGNANO "TOUR".

An especially stimulating season for Scm Group, a giant of technologies for working wood and its derivatives: after its historical début at the International Furniture Exhibition of Milan, the renowned heart of world design, the company is now taking on New York on the occasion of the “Design Week” that is about to take place in the American metropolis.

“The tangible crowning of a project that we've been working on for some time”, said Adriano Aureli, co-owner of Scm Group, who will be taking part in the reception organised by mayor Bloomberg for “ICFF New York Design Week” - a week that will see Scm Group as one of the leading players.

“For over 60 years – said Aureli, – we've worked to create tools that bring ideas to life, that transform a design or a promising intuition into a great product. A message that we want to convey not only to those all over the world who are already familiar with our machines and systems, but also to the protagonists of culture, design and creativity.

For the latest International Furniture Exhibition of Milan, we organised the “I Wood Like - Handmade & digital crafting” event that was hugely successful with the public. It was a large area, conceived in collaboration with FederlegnoArredo and the Culturalegno association to demonstrate just how many opportunities there are for anyone wanting to “do business” with wood. Via a traditional craftwork path (thanks to the manual skills of cabinet-makers, inlayers and turners demonstrated by the Culturalegno associates) or in a more technological manner, perhaps with a powerful but “affordable” numerical control machining centre produced by Scm Group.

Two worlds face-to-face during the great Milan event, and that the public can see again at the ICFF-International Contemporary Furniture Fair, to be held from 18th to 23rd May at the Jakob K. Javits Convention Center. A prestigious occasion for the Rimini group, which wants to show New York how a machining centre (an affordable investment for an artisan firm) can create a complex, stunning table like the “Vaulted table” designed by the London studio Bloomlab.

Scm Group will be a protagonist of the New York design days in another way too. The company is the top partner of an important occasion involving the San Patrignano community that embraces young people with drug and alcohol problems - the exhibition/event “Le botti rinascono a San Patrignano” ("Reborn barrels from San Patrignano"). It's the presentation of objects and furnishing items conceived by renowned names from the international design world and produced in the community's carpentry workshop, making use of the wood from old barrels previously used for storing and ageing the wines produced by the same community - another excellent San Patrignano product.

Lamps, furniture items, doors, children's toys, armchairs, chairs and tables designed by around thirty famous designers from Claudio Bellini to Luca Scacchetti, from Pierluigi Cerri to Michele De Lucchi, from Aldo Cibic to Terry Dwan, from Elio Fiorucci to chef Gualtiero Marchesi, from Karim Rashid to Matteo Thun, from Aldo Spinelli to Angela Missoni, from Paola Navone to another chef, Marc Sadler, not forgetting Paolo Pinifarina or Maurizio and Davide Riva.

The appointment is at the Poltrona Frau showroom, from 18th to 20th May.

After the first stage in Boston and the New York days, the exhibition will move on to Washington, Charleston, Miami and Houston before returning to New York and then winding up in Chicago and Atlanta.
