Legacies
Whiteley Village- Short History
In 1907, William Whiteley the owner of the first London Department Store had great foresight; he left a gift, a legacy in his Will of £1million to provide homes for aged persons of limited means.
His legacy established the Whiteley Homes Trust and enabled the development of Whiteley Village.
The Village, set in 230 acres of conservation area, provides community, care and homes for nearly 500 elderly persons of limited means, within 262 Grade II listed Alms houses, 104 bed nursing home and 51 Extra Care Apartments.
What your legacy could do
Your future gift or legacy will enable us to develop “Whiteley Futures”. To build new almshouses of the future and a Care Hub for generations to come.
However large or small your gift it will enable us to care and support more residents, to provide independence and tailor the support each individual needs. As a charity we really need your support.
Whiteley Futures will need millions to bring the vision to fruition and to do this your gift will enable us to achieve our vision. We aim to be known as “The Best Place to Age in Britain”.
Whatever size of gift you leave, you will be leaving a lasting legacy for decades to come, for hundreds of elderly people.
Our Capital Appeal for funding is starting now in 2015 and may last for several years, so please consider making a pledge in your Will.
Loved Ones
We all know that we want to make sure our loved ones are looked after when we are gone and quite rightly. But please do consider leaving a legacy, large or small. It will make a difference to so many in the future.
We realise that your Will is private and personal. If you feel able to share the fact that you will be leaving a legacy then please do. You need not disclose the amount if you do not wish to, but if you do it would help us a great deal.
If we know you are planning to leave a legacy, then yourpledgewill enable us to keep you informed of the things that are important to you and to invite you to specific events.
The Head of Fundraising would be pleased to talk and discuss your legacy with you, either in your own home or at Whiteley Village. You are welcome to visit the Village and find out more about our plans. Introductions to other members of staff can also be arranged if appropriate and we can explain how your gift can help us support and care for our residents.
Supporting Whiteley Village and its future is so important and for this we truly thank you.
Make Whiteley the Best Place to Age in Britain for more elderly people of limited means.
Thank you.
