/ 2012 BREW CITY BLUR U-FLI FLYBALLTOURNAMENT
HOSTED BY MILWAUKEE DOGS
WELCOME LETTER & TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

A TRIBUTE: Milwaukee Dogs would like to dedicate our very first tournament to our veteran dogs four of whom we have lost since the first of this year. All of these dogs were well in to their second decade when they left us – a tribute to the happy healthy life they enjoyed as flyball dogs. Disney (Mari) was the first in a string of devastating losses for our team. Maddy (Sarah) lost a short battle with a fast growing tumor a mere month later. Whim (Marnie) played agility one weekend and was gone the next, and last but certainly not least was Teddy (Karen) who suffered a recurring injury and was the last of our inaugural team to cross the Rainbow Bridge.

With so many losses in such a short time, please remember our fallen first teammates as you enjoy this tournament. If not for their love of this great game, none of us would be here this weekend. Our first flyball dogs run on in our hearts and we know that each of you understands exactly what we are feeling. The people are a large part of what makes this an amazing sport. Thank you for joining us.

RULES: Think Pawsitive has a beautiful facility and racing will be on turf. The building is air conditioned and should be comfortable for all. The following are some important rules that we ask you to respect so that we will be welcomed back in the future

·  No food or drink in the racing area (the room with the turf). Treats for our hardworking canines are allowed in the racing ring.

·  No alcohol consumption on site

·  No pools anywhere or wet dogs entering the racing area

·  Please potty your dogs anywhere outside EXCEPT the frontof the building and kindly DO NOT let your dogs potty on the bushes/trees.

·  Always promptly pick up after your dog

·  Do not go upstairs – that area is not available to the tournament

CRATING: Indoor crating space is sufficient but limited. There is no crating in the racing area or upstairs. Crating can be done in the front training room (to your right when you walk in the door) and in the matted training area in the lobby. We will not be marking off spots; we are asking that each team be as considerate as possible in how much crating space they use and we may ask you to rearrange if we run out of crating space. PLEASE stack and consolidate as much as possible.

FOOD: No food will be available for purchase onsite. There are several restaurants nearby – a map of suggestions is included with this welcome letter and will be available on our website.

CAMPING: There are spots for 3 self-contained RV’s in the parking lot at a nightly rate of $10. These spots MUST be reserved ahead of time. Please contact our tournament secretary Jaime Restorff to reserve one of these sites if you are interested. (Contact info below)

PARKING INFO: Parking is available in the lot directly in front of Think Pawsitive as well as in the lot directly west of the facility.

RACING:

Friday: The building will be open from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. for setup only. Please allow yourself enough time.

Saturday: Doors will open at 6:30 a.m., with measuring from 6:45 to 7:00, captain’s meeting at 7:15 a.m., and racing will begin at 7:30 a.m. Single dog racing will take place in the middle of the racing schedule and then be completed after the completion of regular racing on Saturday.

Sunday: Doors will open at 6:30 a.m., with measuring from 6:45 to 7:00; brief captain’s meeting at 7:15 a.m. and racing will begin at 7:30 a.m.

We would like to ask for your help to keep the tournament moving at a good pace as we must be out of the building by 7:00 p.m. each day (and we know you would all like to get out before then too). Please make sure you are ready to race and have all dogs in the lane that may be needed for racing. We will have some crates available in the turf area if you need to keep a back up dog in there while you are in the ring.

FLYBALL GEEK: To help us all keep things moving we have arranged to use the Flyball Geek software so that you will always know where we are in the schedule. Wireless Internet access will not be available at Think Pawsitive; however, you will be able to access the schedule with a mobile device such as your smart phone or iPad. The race and schedule links for each day appear below.

Saturday: racing - http://flyballgeek.com/race/133, schedule - http://flyballgeek.com/v/133

Sunday: racing - http://flyballgeek.com/race/134, schedule - http://flyballgeek.com/v/134

Because we have two judges and short breaks throughout the day we will not be taking an official lunch break; please plan accordingly.

Each day will begin with 2-minute warm-ups dropping down to 1-minute once all teams have raced at least once.

Attached is the seeding and racing format for both days. Scoring and placement for all divisions can be found under the seeding tab.

Kevin Hesse will be our Head judge and Judy Hagan will be backing him up. We offer a heartfelt thank you to them both!!

RAFFLE: We will be holding a raffle with prizes that you won’t want to miss. Tickets will be on sale on Saturday and Sunday with the drawing to take place Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
