Job Description – Project Officer

Post title: Project Officer (part-time)

Fixed term contract to 31 March 2017

Salary: NJC scale point 27 - £23,935 per annum pro rata

The employer will provide an allowance for personal pension

Holidays: 25 days + Bank holidays pro rata. Plus 3 additional leave days to be taken between Christmas and the New Year

Hours of work: 22.5 hours per week flexible to the needs of the contract

Evenings and weekends may be required

Office base: Len Medlock Voluntary Centre, St George’s Road, Boston, Lincolnshire

Responsible to: The Senior Community Development Officer. All staff are responsible to the Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service via the Chief Executive.

Purpose of Job

To create opportunities to promote and support community action and volunteering within the local community.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

Responsible for delivering the agreed outcomes of the project which include:

·  Develop new ways to engage with people wishing to start up community projects, tackle local issues or volunteer in their community and provide support and/or signposting to enable them to take their ideas forward.

·  Support new and innovative ideas to tackle local issues through community action, including the use of digital technologies, creating opportunities for ad hoc community action, one off events and micro-volunteering.

·  Support new and innovative ways to support local services through voluntary action, with a particular focus on health and well being and the development of social prescribing

·  Engage and support local businesses to share skills and benefit community projects through employer supported volunteering.

·  Work with Community Development Officers and Volunteering Officers to organise Voluntary Sector Forums and other Networks to enable local people to share learning and discuss issues pertinent to the voluntary sector and within their local communities.

·  Increase flow of groups and individuals to LCVS services and raise profile of organisation in the community through direct engagement of local groups, attendance at meetings, networks, local events etc

General duties and responsibilities:

·  To work in co-operation with other team members, adhering to all LCVS policies and procedures, including Equal Opportunities.

·  To prepare reports and statistics as requested

·  To work flexibly as part of the team including cover for other staff as required.

·  To help identify and agree a training and personal development programme

·  To assist LCVS to be able to deliver services in line with the quality standards including IIP and NAVCA.

·  To participate in regular supervision and appraisal meetings with the Line Manager

·  To participate in any internal/external meetings as required

·  The specific duties and responsibilities of this job description are not restrictive and the post holder will be expected to undertake any other duties as required
