Literature Circles Final Project
You will work with your group to produce a final project.
· This project will be a major grade.
· Your project should be an overview of what your book is about.
· I want to know what you learned from reading it and any interesting information about your book.
· You will be given 3 days to work on your project in class.
· Project work days are Wednesday 2/24, Thursday 2/25, and Friday 2/26. You may need to work on the project outside of school to finish it.
· Projects will be presented to the class on Monday 2/29.
· If your group thinks of a project you would like to do that is not listed here, see Coach Johnston for approval.
Choose one:
1. Create a board game- You are a board game manufacturer, and you have been assigned the task of creating a board game that will help students review your book in a fun way! Using a file folder, colored paper, colored pencils, and/or markers, create a game board. Put the name of your game on the tab of the folder and decorate the inside so that it is a game board. Make it neat, colorful, interesting, and creative!
§ Create at least 25 questions and answers for your game that relate to the novel. The questions must be somehow incorporated into playing the game.
§ Relate the format and purpose of your game to the novel in some way. Example: the game board is in the shape of a castle or the purpose is to escape the evil grandmother.
§ Write directions for your game that would make it perfectly clear how to play the game. Glue the directions to the back cover of the file folder.
§ Make sure the content and difficulty of your game are appropriate for your novel and for your classmates’ abilities.
2. Create a book trailer - Just like a movie trailer, a book trailer tells the story in a way that touches on the highlights, but sells the audience on wanting to experience it. There are a number of great resources you can use, including Imovie, PhotoPeach and Go!Animate. It is required that all students under the age of 13 have a parent or guardian enroll them when signing up for the last 2 of these (free) products.
3. Create a comic strip – This will be a synopsis of the story as a whole. Include important lines, quotes, and thoughts from the text. This activity can be done with technology or hand drawn. Your comic strip should have at least 4 frames for each person working on it. (4 people working = 16 frames)
4. Create a newspaper- Summarize the plot in one article, cover the weather in another, do a feature story on one of the more interesting characters in another. Include an editorial and a collection of ads that would be pertinent to the story. You can do this online or on paper.
