ThispositionisresponsibleforthedeliveryofapprovedacademicVETsectoringeneralconstructionandcarpentrymaintenanceincluding:
- teaching,studentassessment,maintenanceof studentfiles,
- developmentofculturallyappropriateteachingandlearningactivities;
- liaisonwithremoteAboriginalcommunitiesandwithindustrypartnersisrequired;
- workingthroughouttheNorthernTerritoryisanessentialrequirementoftheposition;and
- liaisonwithothertrainingstaffandmonitoringofstudentlearningoutcomesinaccordancewithcurriculumguidelinesofBatchelorInstitute,CAIVETDivisionandAustralianSkillsQualityAuthority(ASQA)standards.
- Detailed statement of duties
- DeliveryofgeneralconstructionandcarpentrytrainingcoursesatbothremoteIndigenousAustraliancommunitiesandcampusbasedasrequired.Includinglectures,tutorials,practical classes,demonstrations,workshops,workexperienceandstudentfieldexcursions,instylesappropriatetotheclientgroup.
- Preparetrainingschedulesandplans,applicationand enrolmentsformsandassociatedresourcesrequiredfortheeffectiveandefficientdeliveryofthegeneralconstructionand carpentrytrainingcourse.
- Developappropriateteachingmaterialswhichrespondtoclientslearningneeds.Inparticular,providespecialisttechnicalknowledgeandinputintothedevelopmentofa workplaceEnglish language,literacyandnumeracyprograms.Conductand/ororganiseworkplaceassessmentasrequired.
- Participateinflexiblecoursedeliverystrategies.
- Maintainallstudentrecordsasrequired;reportprogressionofstudentstotheDivisionattheendofeachtrainingevent.UndertakethebasicadministrativetasksrequiredofallBatchelorInstitutestaffinrelationtocoursedelivery.
6. Consult and advise students on assessments of competency according tothe institute’sAssessmentRules,VETServicesandACSF/ASQAqualitystandards.
7. Participateinresearchand/orfee-basedactivities.
8. Maintainpersonalprofessionaldevelopmentwhileworkinginarespectfulteamenvironment.
9. AttendInstitute/Divisionmeetingsasrequired.
10.Otherdutieswithintherangeofskillsassociatedwiththisdesignationasdirected.
- Essential selection criteria
1.Atradequalificationingeneralconstructionandcarpentrywithaminimumoffour(4)yearsrelevanttradeexperience.Eligibleforregistrationinaprofessionalorganisationwithinthefieldofgeneralconstructionandcarpentry,ifappropriate.
2.CertificateIVinAssessmentandWorkplaceTraining(TAE40110)fordeliveryintheVETsector,abilitytoobtainsamewithin6months.
3.SignificantrelevantexperiencepreferablywithinindigenousAustraliancommunitiesand/or organisations.
4.Demonstratedcapacitytoworkwithinthesocial,politicalandculturalenvironmentsofIndigenous Australiancommunitiesandorganisations,andanabilitytoempathiseandcommunicate sensitivelyandeffectivelywithstudents.
5.Demonstratedabilitytocontributetothedevelopmentofteachingandlearningprogramsand resourcesinaccordancewiththerelevantnationaltrainingpackages,respondingeffectivelytothelearningneedsofadultIndigenousAustralians.
6.Demonstratedcapacitytomanagetheadministrativetasksrelatedtothisposition,abilitytobeaneffectivememberofaculturallydiverseteam,andworkindependentlyorunder directsupervision,withgoodorganisationalandtimemanagementskills.
7.Demonstratedcommitmenttoundertakeprofessionaldevelopmentactivitiesandademonstrated understandingofequalopportunity,affirmativeactionandqualityassurance(ASQA)principlesandpractices.
8.MustbeabletoundertaketravelthroughouttheNorthern Territoryinalightaircraft,mustpossessaNorthernTerritoryCclassdriver’slicensewithexperienceofdrivingonunformedroads,andmustbepreparedtostayinarangeofaccommodationavailabletotheBatchelorInstitutestaff,includingcampingout.
