A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE MR. SAMUEL A. CHEATHAM OF LEXINGTON UPON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE CLEMSON UNIVERSITY COOPERATIVE EXTENSION SERVICE, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF HARD WORK AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO HIS COMMUNITY AND THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, AND TO WISH HIM AND HIS FAMILY MUCH HAPPINESS UPON HIS RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Mr. Sam Cheatham is retiring as Lexington County Extension Agent of the Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and a Master of Agriculture degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Clemson University; and

Whereas, for almost thirty years, Mr. Cheatham has been associated with the Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service, where he began his career in 1973 as an Assistant County Extension Agent in Greenville County and worked his way up to his current position; and

Whereas, his duties as County Extension Agent in Lexington County included planning and coordinating extension education programs in commercial horticulture, turfgrass management, and landscape maintenance. He also presented a weekly one hour callin radio show and he appeared weekly on WISTV “Live at 5” to answer lawn and garden questions; and

Whereas, Mr. Cheatham shares his unique understanding to many groups and organizations including the American Society of Horticulture Science, South Carolina Nursery and Landscape Association, Greater Columbia Landscape Association, Carolina’s Golf Course Superintendent’s Association, Midland’s Turfgrass Association, Midland’s Area Grounds Superintendents, and Turfgrass Council of North Carolina; and

Whereas, it is with great pleasure and appreciation of his commitment that the members of the General Assembly honor Samuel Cheatham for his many years of dedicated service to the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Mr. Samuel A. Cheatham of Lexington upon his retirement from the Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service, commend him for his many years of hard work and dedicated service to his community and the State of South Carolina, and wish him and his family much happiness upon his retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Samuel A. Cheatham of Lexington.
