MTN SAMA17 MULTIPLE STAGES TO EXPLODE WITH NEW HOSTS AND A MYRIAD OF LIVE PERFORMANCES.

The 17th Annual MTN South African Music Awardsis without a doubt, this weekend’s hottest ticket!

The 17th Annual South African Music Awards is thrilled to announce the two hosts for this year’s Live Broadcast Saturday Awards Ceremony. Bonang ‘B’ Matheba and Phat Joe will be the official SAMA17 hosts in this year’s SAMA DOME, Sizwe Dhlomo will be the official host for the second stage on the Piazza also named the SAMA Fan Stage, while South Africa’s own Disco Dave - who’s been dubbed by the who’s who of artists across South Africa as the ‘muse’ of SA Music – will host this year’s Official Live SAMA Webcast.

Bonang, Phat Joe and Sizwe were announced as MTN SAMA17 hosts last Friday on the magazine show ‘Live’ on SABC 1, the Official Broadcaster of the 17th Annual South African Music Awards, and are all ecstatic to be part of the most exciting weekend in South African music history.

ARTIST LINE UP PREVIEW

For the first time in history the SAMA’s will be hosting multiple stages, bringing the best in SA music to the public both live and in cross link up performances during the awards and several live performances immediate after the awards until late.

Over the course of the weekend, the SAMA Dome stage, the Teatro stage and the Piazza stage will be filled with some of the greatest contemporary acts in the country. Some of the leaked names to perform include:

Zakes Bantwini, Rhythmic Elements, Kwela Tebza, Professor, Van Coke Kartel, Freshly Ground, Goldfish, DJ Kent, Loyiso, The Arrows, Tumi & The Volume, Auriol Hayes, Wholehearted, Kinky Robot, Zakes Mantwini, Boo! and many more.

All artists on the Dome and Teatro stages are confidential and will not be disclosed until the weekend’s award show. SAMA17 is making history again with multiple performances and live performances across the various stages programmed together all as part of one show! The Piazza Fan Stage alone will be bringing some of the hottest collabs live to the public.

ABOUT BONANG ‘B’ MATHEBA

Television and radio personality, model, fashion icon and entrepreneur, the amazing Bonang Matheba is no stranger to our screens.She co-presents the popular music show LIVE on SABC 1, and hosts an equally popular radio show. Bonang regularly shares the stage with well-respected international and local performers as an MC, hosting events such as the G-Unit Concert with 50 Cent and a recent campaign with the Kardashian sisters.

In 2008 Bonang launched her first clothing range and followed that up in 2009 with her own range of trendy handbags. Bonang is not one to rest on her laurels, making the time to serve as a Good Will Ambassador for several youth campaigns in South Africa and she also coaches young up and coming television and radio presenters.Her unwavering professionalism and dedication to her craft has lead to her being named the G-Sport Style Star of the Year in 2010 and a youth icon by SABC in 2011.

Bonang co-hosted the first ever live backstage webcast at SAMA 16 last year in addition to making her debut as SAMA host during the SAMA16 Friday Awards show at Sun City and with her infectious smile and electrifying personality, Bonang is set to be part of making history with SAMA 17!

PHAT JOE

Phat Joe is one of the most controversial on-air radio personalities in the country and has had numerous newspaper headlines for his outspokenness.Phat Joe’s radio career took off in 1996. Since then he has hosted many shows on several radio stations, owned and operated his own television production company, and had a cameo role in the film ‘God is African’. His 'tell it like it is' personality will guarantee a memorable experience.

With fourteen years on air, Phat Joe has an incredible track record. He was one of the pioneering DJs at Yfm, and his huge presence on air led to the launch of “Phat Joe Live” on e TV and SABC1 after which he moved on to Metro FM and most recently Kaya FM, where he dominated the Gauteng airwaves.

Based now in Cape Town, Phat Joe has furthered his illustrious DJ career with Heartfm where he hosts the morning show. Hecombines a keen insight of society with a cynical wit that veers entertainingly and erratically between silly and sublime.From Johannesburg to Cape Town, Phat Joe has thrilled South African listeners and audiences across radio and television.Phat Joeis candid, witty, entertaining and will no doubt make SAMA 17 a memorable one

SIZWE DHLOMO

Sizwe Dhlomo is well known to all music lovers in South Africa from when he burst onto the scene as the ever MTV base VJ in October 2005, during the first season of MTV base World Chart Express. Dhlomo has become a well known face on the South African music and entertainment scene, and has gone on to present other shows on MTV base including MTV base's coverage of the MTV Europe Music Awards and MTV base Uncensored, a pro-social programme.

Sizwe has also interviewed contemporary stars from around the world including Akon, John Legend, Sean Paul, Brickz and 2-Face.He was a Digital Host for the 16th Annual South African Music Awards (SAMA’s), which were held in Sun City on Saturday 17 April, 2010. In 2010 he joined SABC1's LIVE, as the show's signature co-host alongside Bonang Matheba.

Dhlomo’s international standing in the music business and his passion for SA music make him an ideal host for MTN SAMA 17.
