Introductory Firearms Class

Ridgedale Rod and Gun Club in Abbotsford
You are cordially invited to an introductory class in firearms safety. Come on out to learn about firearms and have fun shooting paper targets. There is room for a maximum of 20 people. The cost is $20 per person. The club provides all ammunition and safety gear.
All staff and students at the SFU [and their families] are invited. I have been making this opportunity available to SFU staff and students once or twice a year for the past twenty years now. I will continue to do so as long as there is an active interest.
*Testimonials are available on my website -
This session is designed to teach you how to handle firearms safely. The first hour is spent in a classroom. This is required. No one is allowed to touch any firearm until they have attended the safety class. Afterwards, you will be instructed how to safely handle a variety of types of firearms. Participants will be allowed to shoot small caliber (.22”) handguns and rifles. I am hopeful that we will also be able to shoot shotguns as well. Centre-fire rifles, revolvers and semi-automatic pistols will be available to shoot at the end of the afternoon.
The classroom lecture is given by Gary Mauser, who is a certified Instructor in Firearm Safety Education. He is certified by both the Canadian government and the province of British Columbia.
Ridgedale Rod and Gun Club is approximately one hour past the Port Mann Bridge out Highway No. 1. Turn East on Harris Road off the Abbotsford-Mission Road – Exit #92, Highway #11. For more information see their website,
All participants will be monitored while handling firearms by Certified Firearm Safety Instructors. For safety reasons, there will be no more than two participants per Firearm Safety Instructor. All range rules must be obeyed immediately. Violators may be asked to leave the range. You are encouraged to wear warm clothes and sensible shoes. The shooting benches are covered, but the range is not. The class will be held rain or shine.
The session will last until 3 pm. Registration does not include lunch, but lunch can be provided for $5.00. A vegetarian lunch is available upon request.
If you are interested, please give your name and leave $20 with Catherine Wong at SFU. I need to know if you are coming as soon as possible to arrange for sufficient ammunition and enough Firearm Safety Instructors.
If you have any questions, just email or phone me.
