Now that the weather is changing, please make sure your child is prepared to participate in outdoor REC. Boots are great for those muddy days! Once the snow arrives, all students must have a coat, hat, mittens/gloves, and boots.

Thank you for sending in Box Tops! They have already been collected once, but there will still be two more contests this year! Please continue to collect them and send them in to school!

ThestudentshaveenjoyedlearningaboutFablesandTheHumanBody.It'swonderfultoseethestudentsusenewvocabulary wordsinclassdiscussionsandintheir writing.Next, wewilllearnaboutDifferentLands andSimilarStories.Thechildrenwillcompareand contrastdifferent storiesfromaroundtheworld.WewillalsolearnaboutEarlyWorldCivilizations.

Iknowthat wehaveonlybeeninschoolacoupleofmonths,butthegrowthIamseeingwiththechildren'sreadingisamazing. Thestudentshavelearnedhowtoblendandsegmentwords. Theyareusingdecodingstrategiestofigureoutnewwords.Theyare focusingonpunctuationwhiletheyread,sothat theycanreadfluently. Thankyouforall ofyoursupportathome.Thestudentsreally benefit fromat-homereading. Pleasecontinuetohelpyourchildmakeprogressbyreadingwith them everyday.

Iamalsoimpressedwiththegrowthstudentsareshowing intheir writingjournals(Treasure Books).Wearefocusingon addingdetails,usingcorrectpunctuation,writingcompletesentences,andbeginningsentenceswithcapitalletters.

Thechildrenhavealsobeenmakingsteady progresswiththeir mathfacts.Weareworkingonnumberbondsandtenframes. Childrenare beginningtoseeaconnectionbetweenadditionand subtraction.Wearealsoworkingonapplicationproblems.Thestudents enjoybeingdetectivesandlookingforclueswithintheapplicationproblems.

Thankyouforworkingonmathfactsathome.Pleasecontinuetopracticeadditionandsubtractionfactseachday.Justafew minutes adaywillmakeahugeimpact. Flash cards are a great investment!
