Gemini New Moon - May 25, 2017

There is something apocalyptic about the New Moon, which wants the outmoded patterns of our old world, our old selves, to die.An appropriate symbol for this phase of the Moon is the Hindu god Shiva, dancing in an awesome fire that builds as it destroys. It is time to let go of what no longer serves us, to build something new for our highest good.In thisunprecedented timeof accelerated change it is vital to remember that we are co-creators of all our experiences. New Moons are times of renewal. Indeed we begin many times, astrologically and otherwise.

Each New Moon brings a one-month period of opportunities to start anew, varying personally for each one of us. This New Moon in Gemini reminds us of the power of words and the power of our minds to shape our world. We now have a cosmic invitation to become more conscious of how we think, communicate, use information and interact with our surroundings. Gemini is a mutable, transitional energy and wants to learn, link and exchange ideas. We are learning that when we change our mind our world changesalso. This mutable air sign invites us to absorb a variety of new ideas and multiple points of view, to cast our line afresh into the ocean of possibilities. There are myriad ways to see life and our thinking attracts our reality.

“What we think we become.” Buddha

Gemini’s spiritual journey is beautifully illustrated by the myth of the Twins, Castor and Pollux, one mortal and one divine. In a quarrel with another set of twins, Castor the mortal twin is slain. The grieving Pollux appeals to Zeus (Jupiter) who permits them to take turns being in the upper and lower worlds, meeting once each day to share what they have learned. The twins are closely associated with the wisdom that comes from balancing the analytical mind with the mind in the heart, reason with intuition. Our higher mind or intuition knows truth and can give us our direction in life while our analytical mind finds the best way to carry it out.

“There is no path to truth, it must come to you. Truth can come to you only when your mind and heart are simple, clear, and there is love in your heart; not if your heart is filled with the things of the mind.” Krishnamurti

Where the New Moon at 5 degrees Gemini falls in our charts we are ready for new information and a broader perspective. Our Gemini energy seeks a wide range of experiences in order to develop flexibility and open-mindedness. Yet if we are to successfully navigate the experiences of this area of life we must always remember that truth is found in the heart. We are reminded that at their highest expression:

“Words are the voice of the heart.” Tuscarora Indian proverb

As well as being part of the ongoing Cardinal T-square (see May 10 Scorpio Full Moon) Jupiter in Libra also forms a Yod configuration with Mercury in Taurus and Neptune in Pisces. The Yod suggests a potential turning point, an opportunity to clear the decks, to clear the cobwebs from our busy minds and to move on into a more enlightened way of thinking and being.Yods signify Searching with a capital S. Yet as soon as we receive an answer we seek further (Mercury) ….always the vague feeling and the little voice in the background saying that there must be more to it. Enjoying the quest and at the same time seeing the big picture (Jupiter) is a giant step forward in learning to live in harmony with these unprecedented times of upheaval and change. It is timeto be in the here and now.Otherwise there will be constant anxiety of the mind (negative Mercury) and profound feelings of dissatisfaction (negative Neptune). When we steady the mind (positive Mercury in Taurus) we can connect with a deeper, more compassionate wisdom (positive Neptune in Pisces) that can be shared with others(Jupiter in Libra).

ThusYods play a creative role, promoting profound inner changesthat help us to be in closer touch with the wisdom of our souls and to express something unique. They are the key to another way of being, to achieving a higher level of consciousness, whereby happiness is attainable without constantly chasing and pursuing after ideas or things, without pushing the envelope. With the Yod now activated, this period of time can be a potential important turning point in our lives, a time when we may feel backed against the wall, personally and globally. This is why the Yod is often described as the “Hand of God.”We are reminded that:

“The softest thing in the universe overcomes the hardest.” Lao Tzu

With both Jupiter and Neptune in the Yod we have a highly spiritual and sensitive combination of planetary energies. And along with Mercury, messenger of the Gods, we have the potential to penetrate the depths of the ocean of our unconscious as well as the heights of our spiritual aspirations. We canmore readily merge with the souls of all those we meet on life’s path, all living things visible and invisible, as well as the soul ofthe world, the Anima Mundi. Our Neptune energy connects with all life at the soul level and helps us express our unlimited and infinite creative potential. At this New Moon it is especially important to spend time in Neptune’s realm… in meditation and contemplation. As we grasp Neptune’s precious whispers from the beyond our spirits are lifted into the pure realms of celestial transcendent experience.

“The path of every soul is upward, towards God.”White Eagle

The Sabian symbol for the New Moon at 5 degrees Gemini:“A radical magazine.”

We live in a world that is in the midst of unexpected events and radical viewpoints. It is a time of awakening that deepens our understanding of what we value and what is important in life.It is an invitation to rethink our priorities and to live our truth….and above allto do something positive to forward the evolution of humanity. We are reminded that:

“Deeds speak louder than words.”Assiniboine Indian proverb
