Shanghai Mart to open newGlobal Products Trade Center
Shanghai is about to welcome a brand-new GlobalProductsTradeCenter. Located on the third floor of Shanghai Mart, the first phase of the center will open to the public on August 2. As the only permanent platform in the city that combines quality international B2B and B2C experiences, the center, possibly the largest of its kind in Shanghai, is a pioneering effort bringing high-end international commodities and multilateral trade opportunities toEast China and the domestic market at large.
In the midst of the global financial crisis, China’s import market has been gaining growing worldwide attention. Thanks to low import tariffs and an increasing demand for quality products, China has seen a rise in imports. The new Global Products Trade Center serves to further facilitate the introduction of high-end products and create a win-win situation for international traders.
Distinctive model
The center adopts a distinctive “3+2” service model. In the B2B sector, the center will be involved in the various exhibitions staged at Shanghai Mart and aims to ensure wide access to distributors and retailers.It will introduce one-on-one purchasing negotiation channels and it will also program more long-term exhibitions.
In the B2C sector, the center will improvethe understanding of consumer needs by hosting a variety of exhibitionsand will expand promotional channels by utilizing websites like Alibaba and Taobao as well aspopular television shopping channels.

The GlobalProductsTradeCenter now accommodates a number of themed pavilions with commodities from more than 10 countries and regions around the world. With quality goods fromJapan, Turkey, Canada, Italy, Malaysia and Thailand among many other places, the quality food and beverages, furniture, jewelry, garments, business gifts and luxury goods are sure to dazzle at the center’s upcoming opening.
The second phase of the center is under construction and this will see it develop into an important interactive platform for domestic and foreign traders and a major purchasing center for retailers.
