RESPONSIBLE FOR: CO-ORDINATING PARTICPITON PROJECTS
LIMITS OF AUTHORITY: TO WORK WITHIN THE AGREED FRAMEWORKS OF HARROW MENCAP INCLUDING POLICIES AND PROCEDURES, BUDGETS AND RELEVANT LEGISLATION
HOURS OF WORK: 28 HOURS PER WEEK TO BE WORKED FLEXIBLY
MAIN TASK
/DESCRIPTION
Co-ordination of the projects within the Campaigns and Community Tem / · Working within a team, co-ordinate Speak up Now, COPE and other projects as directed by line manager· Map and link existing resources and opportunities
· Develop training package with and for Peer Experts to include ‘speaking up’ with confidence, understanding health and social care systems, confidence building and community participation
· Recruit volunteers to act as Peers Experts
· Provide support and supervision to Peer Experts
· With Peer Experts develop a digital forum with outcomes
Promotion of the project
/ · To raise awareness among disabled people and their carers· Promote the project to the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group, GPs , Patient Participation groups , Adult Social Care teams and other voluntary sector groups linked to outcomes
· Champion inclusion for people with learning disabilities

Working with people with disabled people and their carers / · Working within Harrow Mencap’s equal opportunities policy, philosophy and mission statement, ensure support offered to people is person centred and is reflective of current good practice.
· To empower, advocate and campaign for disabled people, ensuring relevant systems within the projects
· Ensure disabled people are actively involved in planning, co-designing and developing services.
Administration
/ · To be self sufficient in own administration including the production of reports, upkeep of records and production of accessible information using relevant IT.Recruitment and Selection / · To participate in the recruitment of volunteers working within Harrow Mencap’s policies and procedures ensuring that the recruitment of volunteers reflects the needs of service users.
· To be involved in recruitment of paid sessional staff
Health and Safety& Safeguarding
/ · Working with the Managers within the Community Team, implement Health and Safety procedures within projects and completing risk assessments as necessary.· To Understand and follow Harrow Mencap’s Safeguarding Children/ Adult at Risk Policy
· Ensure staff you supervise understand Harrow Mencap’s Safeguarding Children and Adult at risk policies
Finances and funding
/ · To adhere to Harrow Mencap’s financial systems and procedures.· Ensuring financial systems are in place for relevant projects.
Training
/ · To participate in training offered by Harrow Mencap using acquired skills to enhance own work performance.· To actively participate in team training.
Personal growth and development / · To actively seek opportunities for personal development
· To attend and make effective use of regular supervision sessions with the Deputy Manager of the Community team.
· To make full use of Harrow Mencap’s appraisal system to evaluate own work performance, set goals, and demonstrate a willingness to change.
Supervision and Support / · To offer regular support to staff working on participation projects
· To support volunteers and peer experts
Working with others / · Networking and partnership work with other voluntary, statutory and community groups.
· Attending meetings as required.
· Liaison with and support to carers
· Building and maintaining positive internal and external relationships.
Harrow Mencap
/ · Attending Harrow Mencap meetings and functions as required.· Working in other Harrow Mencap services as required.
· Promoting a positive image of self and organisation.
· Active involvement in developments within Harrow Mencap.
The post holder may be required to undertake other duties, which are in keeping with this post.
