Academic Scholarship
BACKGROUND:
The Coalition offers two (2) scholarships annually, each a minimum of $500.00, or one (1) scholarship annually in the amount of $1,000.00, to deserving high school or college students who plan to further their education,preferably in a field related to public safety. The award is named in honor of New Jersey's first national accreditation manager, Chief Robert J. Falzarano, of the Long Hill Township Police Department.
AWARDS:
One (1) $1,000.00 scholarship or Two (2) $500.00 scholarships.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Scholarships are open to any student in the 12th grade or at any public or private school.
- The scholarship must be used for the purpose of furthering the education of the applicant in a four year college or university, a two year college, or a trade school.
- The applicant’s parent, legal guardian, or grandparent must be an active member in good standing with the New Jersey Public Safety Accreditation Coalition as an accreditation manager.
- The awards are made solely on the basis of merit (scholastic ability, leadership potential, and community service), without regard to ethnic background, sex, religion, or financial need.
HOW TO APPLY:
- Fill out the application form, completing all questions as concisely as possible.
- Enclose a transcript of all high school or college credits to date.
- Have the qualifying parent, guardian, or grandparent sign the application on the line provided.
- Sign and date the completed application on the line provided.

Applications and transcripts must be postmarked no later than midnight on September 1st of the calendar year.
DECISION:
A committee appointed by the Board of Directors and make selections by October 1st of the calendar year. All selections will be final. Applicants who fail to comply with all the steps will be disqualified. The award recipient will be honoredat the NJPSAC annual conference at PrincetonUniversity at a date and time to be announced.
