Annual salary - £17,000 - £20,000

The Construction Youth Trust works with disadvantaged young people to remove barriers and open up training and employment opportunities in Construction. Through our various projects we help young people to fulfil their full potential, build confidence and self esteem and provide a chance to develop and demonstrate their natural skills and abilities.

We are looking for an enthusiastic graduate who would like to gain further experience of the charity sector and use their undoubted skills in a positive way to support our projects across London and the South East and generally help with the running of our London office. Project Assistant - Job Description

Role Title: LondonProject Assistant
Purpose of role:
  • Work with young peopleand relevant support agencies to help young people to develop their skills and move them into education, training and employment in the construction and built environment industries.
  • To provide support to the LondonManager on all matters relating to the delivery of projects.
  • To provide admin and back up support as required.

Location:The Building Centre, 26 Store Street, London WC1E 7BT
General Duties:
Assist the LondonManagerand the wider team with communications and maintaining contact with our young people and donor organisations.
Ensuring effective front line delivery of projects.
Provide administrative support to the Londonteam.
Deal with telephone enquiries.
Maintain records for all aspects of delivery across the London team and report regularly.
Act as ambassador for the Trust when dealing with external contacts
Help with the general running of the office and assist colleagues at peak times.
Project duties will include:
Frontline work with young people including, but not limited too, CV preparation, building interview and inter-personal skills.
Help young people on the programme, support them in their progress towardseducation, training and employment in the construction and built environment industries, develop and help them meet their career targets and progression plan.
Track and report the progress of young people during and after their work with us.
Manage and keep records of petty cash associated with the delivery of projects.
Deliver training sessions to young people as appropriate.
Organise site visits, courses and work experience placements for young people.
Working closely with key referral agencies to recruit young people for programmes.
Working closely with Trust trainers to maintain attendance records, handbooks, bookings and smooth programme delivery.
Ensure all trainers have materials necessary to deliver projects.
Ensure suitable venues are found and vetted by the Trust prior to use.
Act as a point of contact where necessary with employers, schools, clients, statutory and referring organisations.

Person Specification

Qualifications, skills and experience required to do this role:
Experience of work with young people and at least one of the following:
  • construction industry,
  • training delivery.
Drive, energy and self motivation, and a ‘Can do’ approach
Excellent communications skills both written and oral, including :
  • ability to communicate professionally with a range of people including: young people, funders, and site workers.
  • ability to draft reports.
Great administration skills, including:
  • ability to keep detailed records.
  • ability to manage and track cash and budgets.
  • IT skills.
Graduate or equivalent
