A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO COMMEND TOM ROGERS OF MYRTLE BEACH FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS CHAIRMAN OF THE COUNCIL OF MYRTLE BEACH AREA ORGANIZATIONS AND CONGRATULATE HIM FOR HIS PERSONAL LEADERSHIP, AND THE MANY ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE COUNCIL OF MYRTLE BEACH AREA ORGANIZATIONS THAT BENEFIT THE MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS AND THOSE ENGAGED IN THE ENTERTAINMENT, HOSPITALITY, AND TOURISM INDUSTRY IN THE MYRTLE BEACH AREA DURING HIS TWO YEARS AS CHAIRMAN.
Whereas, the Council of Myrtle Beach Area Organizations is composed of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, the Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association, Partners Economic Development Corporation, Santee Cooper, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday, Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association, and the Oceanfront Property Owners Association; and
Whereas, the Council of Myrtle Beach Area Organizations is the umbrella lobbying group for the seven member associations; and
Whereas, the Council of Myrtle Beach Area Organizations works closely with the Horry and Georgetown legislative delegations on statewide legislation which benefits tourism, hospitality, business, and economic development in South Carolina; and
Whereas, the Council of Myrtle Beach Area Organizations works with various state agencies and the Governor’s Office to promote the Grand Strand; and
Whereas, the Council of Myrtle Beach Area Organizations is an active member of the Southeast Tourism Society consisting of the eleven southeast states who ban together to lobby the United States Congress on national tourism issues; and
Whereas, Mr. Tom Rogers has served as Chairman of the Council of Myrtle Beach Area Organizations for the past two years; and
Whereas, under the leadership of Chairman Rogers the Council of Myrtle Beach Area Organizations has grown to a level of unsurpassed accomplishments in its activities before the South Carolina General Assembly and the United States Congress. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, commend Tom Rogers of Myrtle Beach for his outstanding service as Chairman of the Council of Myrtle Beach Area Organizations, and congratulate him for his personal leadership, and the many accomplishments of the Council of Myrtle Beach Area Organizations that benefit the member organizations and those engaged in the entertainment, hospitality, and tourism industry in the Myrtle Beach area during this two years as chairman.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Tom Rogers and to the Council of Myrtle Beach Area Organizations.
