P.E.O. International PeaceScholarship Fund

The P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund provides scholarships for selectedinternational women for graduate study in the United States and Canada.

Established in 1869, theP.E.O. Sisterhood is an international women's organization of currently about 250,000 members with a primary focus on providing educational opportunities for female students worldwide. The Sisterhood is organized with chapters throughout the United States and Canada, and is headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa.. It is entirely independent and has no affiliation with any fraternal or benevolent organization.

IPS Scholarship details:

  • Maximum of $12,500 annually, depending on need.
  • May be renewed once.
  • In April 2015, the IPS Board of Trustees awarded $1.6 million to 184 recipients from 75 different countries.
  • Since 1949, P.E.O. has awarded $34,974,673 to 7217 women from around the world. One of those women received a Nobel Peace Prize.

Applicants:

  • Must be women from countries other than the United States and CanadaI
  • In order to qualify for her first scholarship, new applicants must have a full year of coursework remaining and be enrolled and in residence for the entire school year.
  • Must be qualified for admission to full-time graduate study and working toward a graduate degree in any accredited college or university in the United States or Canada.
  • Do not need to be enrolled at the time of application
  • Will be enrolled and in residence for the entire school year of the scholarship.
  • Promise to return to their home countries within 60 days of completion of their degree to pursue their professional career

Establishing Eligibility and Making Application:

Eligibility must be established before application material is sent to applicants. The eligibility information is available from at any time, but the completed form will be accepted electronically in the IPS office only betweenSeptember 15 and December 15.
