Durand Lodge #179 F&AM will be awarding two (2) $1,000.00Scholarship for the

2018-2019 academic years in Memory of John Cumming.

This scholarship fund honors a fallen brother, a man whom all of us will forever remember as the “young fella”. John Cumming was an honorable man and a Mason, a father, a World War II veteran, a Masonic Kiltie, a mentor to so many, a presence which we all miss. After John passed away, the members of Durand Lodge wanted to pay tribute to him by carrying out Masonic work in his honor. He will not be forgotten.

The scholarship is open toa member orfamily members of a Master Mason, Eastern Star Chapter, DeMolay International, and International Order of Rainbow Girls.

To be eligible for these scholarships:

  • Theapplicant, applicant’s parent(s) or grandparent(s) must be members in good standing in their respective organizationin the State of New Jersey.
  • A high school senior or presently enrolled in a college or university with at least one full year remaining.
  • A resident of the State of New Jersey.
  • Scholarship recipients are required tobe present at the time of presentationat Durand Lodge #179 F&AM, 911 Richmond Ave Point Pleasant, NJ. If the recipient is unable to attend, a letter telling us that the recipient has other commitments that cannot be changed is required.
  • Past John CummingScholarship recipients are NOT eligible to receive another scholarship.

All applications must be received as one completed file or packageby regular mail and are to include transcripts and any other supporting information. See below for the contact information. Applications must be received no later thanAugust 1st, 2018.Any application received after this date will not be considered for a scholarship.

Attach a copy of your latest transcript, including first semester grades, from the high school, college or university you are presently attending. Also, please attach a copy of transcripts from any other high school, college or university you have attended. Transcript MUST include a photo copy of your official SAT scores.

You MUST submit an essay of between 300 to 500 words, indicating any accomplishment or project you have achieved. The same deadline applies to the essay as the application.

Attach letters of recommendations (maximum of three), copies of honors received, and any other supporting data you wish to furnish with this application.
