Born in Lissington, Oct 1890 to parents Benjamin and Ellen, Ag. Lab. Ben was a 2nd wagoner on a farm and it is assumed that he came to live in Fiskerton for farm work before enlisting in Lincoln. No evidence as to why he appears on the memorial at Cherry Willingham. (Information obtained from ancestry.com)

TAYLOR John Thomas Cliff

Private 8595, 3rd Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Not killed in action discharged 11th Oct 1917 in Lichfield aged 47yrs. Died June 1918.

Born 1869 in Chapletown, Sheffield live in the Railway Cottages, Cherry Willingham and worked as a Quarryman/Ironstone miner at Greetwell Quarry in 1911, he was married to Sarah Ann from West Fisby, Lincs eight years his junior and had two children a daughter Amy 1901 born in Sheffield and a son Arthur, 1906 born in Cherry Willingham. He signed on as a special reservist for 1 year 7th Sept 1916 and served in the 2nd Battalion, Lincolnshire regiment in 1888.

Born Apr-Jun 1910 in Barnet to William Henry Goodchild 1880 and Zelie Morgan Harman 1875-1950. Enrolled 1st Oct 1938 in London and made a Lieutenant in Dec 1940. Married Lucy Patricia Hope Hancock in Dec 1937 in Chard. Had a daughter Susan born in Welton 1939. His will stated that he lived in Cherry Willingham.
