Keri Gasiorowski is the South and East Regional HR Director for Merit age Homes, a top-ten homebuilder that enriches lives by building the American Dream. Prior to this, she worked as head of HR for the largest global independent provider of risk, compliance, and transaction management solutions.

Keri has been published in the Encyclopedia of Human Resource Management, specifically an essay containing the modern-day definition of Leadership Development. She has also been published in HR Matters, a global HR magazine, and Scotsman Guide, a financial industry publication. Participants will learn the EEOC’s position on background checks and discriminatory practices. They will learn about the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA); an overview, violations of the FCRA and class actions. Participants will also receive advice on when and how to use criminal background checks effectively.

Barbara Cheives is the President and CEO of Converge & Associates Consulting. Converge specializes in race and ethnic relations consulting, employee relations, community engagement, and cultural competency training. Barbara’s consulting expertise includes government entities; law enforcement and public safety; not for profit organizations; media; education; and corporations.

Barbara served as the first Executive Director of Toward a More Perfect Union in Palm Beach County, Florida – a nonprofit initiative addressing the critical impact of race and ethnicity in a diverse community. Additionally, Barbara is a trained mediator, a certified ethics trainer providing training for Palm Beach State College Center for Applied Ethics, and a national trainer for Neighbor works America.

Barbara’s community appointments included Immediate Past Chair of the Palm Beach Criminal Justice Commission. She served on the West Palm Beach Mayor’s Transition Team where she chaired Neighborhood Improvement and Community Outreach. She was also appointed as a Commissioner to the statewide 2007 Blueprint Commission for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.
