K8 Athletic Board Report

Highlights
- Football, Volleyball, and Cheer have had a great start. The season is scheduled to conclude on Feb 23rd. The district tournament for FB will startTuesday Feb 28th and for VB Monday, March 5th. The championship games for both FB and VB will be played at FHS on Friday March 9th. VB championship game times are: B game at 4:30 pm and A game at 5:30 pm. The start time for the championship FB game is 5:00 pm.
FB / VB Schedule Attached
- There will be a K8 cheer competition during halftime of the championship FB game.. All 7 cheer squads will compete. The PBHS and FHS cheer staffs have worked together to create a competition that will help prepare girls for HS competition.
- PBHS and FHS Wrestling Programs are continuing to work together to host awrestling orientation for interested athletes about the sport of wrestling. This orientation will help familiarize and “recruit” student athletes that may want to get involved in the sport of wrestling. The orientation will be offered to each K8 site during the month of February.
- All K8 schools haveheld parent meetings to continue to emphasize our K8 athletic philosophy and discuss the new concussion protocol. These meetings have been very beneficial and have helped the district alleviate issues or concerns.
- All football games will be played at FHS, PBHS or WB K8 so we can utilize the lights. All games will start at 5:00 pm. It is a great opportunity for the K8 athletes to compete on a HS FB field.
- All VB games will start at 4:30 and 5:30 pm at local sites.
- With the implementation of the mandatory K8 coaches meetings and parent meetings across the district before the start of the season, we have witnessed an improvement in both athlete and spectator sportsmanship.
