Group Class

*Note: A separate entry form must be used for group classes. Place Dam (class 21), Sire (class 22), or Breeder (class 23) name in the ‘Name of Horse’ section of the entry form and name the horses that will be judged in the ‘Class Description’ section of the entry form. Horse owners must be listed for each horse in the group. Each horse entered in a group class must have an individual entry form completed and on file with the show secretary, even if the horse is not competing in other classes.

Amateur & JrYR Handler

To be shown in-hand by an Amateur with a current USEF Amateur card or Jr/YR. Open to fillies/mares and geldings in any age group. No Stallions or colts except weanlings. To be judged on presentation of the animal to the judge, neatness and appearance of the handler, overall condition of the animal, handling techniques, appropriate tack and equipment, demonstration of correct training and ability to show horse to the best of its ability.

24.  Amateur/Jr Handler - Class will be divided as JR and AA if entries warrant.

Individual Breed Classes (IBC) – IBC classes are for horses of the same breed or breed registry, per USEF DR 204.2. Open to horses of any age providing copy of breed registration with entry. All classes listed below are for horses registered with the sponsoring breed organization and owners must be members in good standing of that organization. Please submit a copy of the registration papers with your entry form. Lists of horses entered will be sent to the respective breed organizations for approval of registration and ownership. Show Management will determine its eligibility. Incomplete entries will not be accepted. Horses to be shown in‐hand and to move at the judge’s discretion.

If you would like to sponsor a class, even one not currently listed here, please contact the show secretary. Cost is 25.00 to sponsor class. Indicate which breed in description box after class number. A list of sponsored classes will also be posted on the website as they are confirmed.

Materiale Classes – Horses will be judged according to the criteria listed on the “USDF Materiale Class” Scoresheet. Ages may be combined if entries warrant. Horses must be at least 36 months of age to participate in Materiale Classes

IN-HAND TRIANGLE PROCEDURE

In-hand classes 1 – 24 will perform individually on the triangle measuring

Approximately 30 meters on each side, and 15 meters from B-C, or sized, if judge

Specifies, as described in USEF DR209. When called by the Ringmaster, follow

the procedure as diagramed:

Stand horse at A for conformation judging

Walk small triangle: A - B - C - A

Trot large triangle A - D - E - A

Leave judging area promptly unless requested otherwise by judges.

Awards:

Six Ribbons for each class except in championship classes, which will be awarded Champion, and Reserve ribbons only.

No fee for Championship class. All entries MUST submit USEF and USDF documents for rider, owner, and horse, a drug fee, and non-refundable office fee. There is no membership fee for handlers. Please include USEF and/or USDF non-member fee if applicable. No entry accepted without a negative Coggins dated within 12 months of show. 2016 foals MUST have a separate entry for Dam with the Dam’s Coggins. Payment by checks only, no Credit Cards. Please make checks payable to UMass Equitation. All horses must come with proof of the following vaccinations: Rabies, EWT, West Nile within 1 year; Flu and Rhino within 6 months. Refunds will be given for cancellations received in writing, less office fee, before closing date. Post entries will be accepted with a post entry fee if scheduling permits.

Unconditionally, no refunds after closing date or for ‘acts of god’, which require management to cancel classes or day(s) of competition.

Times: Tentative times will be available from secretary on Wednesday prior to show. Official times will be posted in the show office. Please double check your times upon check in. Start times are a “guesstimate” and for reference only. Listen for announcements of actual times. Breed classes may be up to 60 minutes ahead or behind posted times.

Stabling: Limited number of 10x12 permanent stalls available at $75 per night. Four double stalls 20x22 for mare and foals $80 per night, (larger stalls are first come first serve). Limited number of day stalls available for $60 per day. No bedding/shavings, dishes, buckets, snaps etc. will be provided. A stall cleaning deposit of $20 on a separate check is required. There will be NO refund of stall deposit if not on a separate check. No refunds on stabling after closing date (except for stall cleaning deposit). Participants are responsible for stripping their own stall before leaving. May arrive on Friday between noon and 7pm for Show Saturday.

Footing: Indoor arena 100x200 contains IGK LiteStride footing, outdoor areas contain sand footing and are of the following dimensions: 180 x70 and 66 x132.

Sharps Containers: Sharps containers will be available in the show office and in stabling areas. Management reserves the right to fine any individual up to $100 for improper disposal of needles or other sharp disposable instruments.
