All players and student managers are expected to be at ALL practices. Stay dedicated to practices. Practices are the main way you will get better you can only improve and learn if you are present. If you are unable to be at practice for any reason you must notify my by text or phone call and message.

Unexcused Absences: The coaches will decide if an absence is excused or not. Please do NOT take babysitting jobs or schedule appointments during practice time. Missed practices will affect your conditioning and playing ability. After three unexcused practices, you will be dismissed from the team.

Detention: If you receive a detention you must serve the detention when expected to by the teacher. It is your responsibility to tell me about the detention. It is your responsibility to get to practice after serving your detention. Detention does not excuse you from practice. If you miss a portion of three practices because of detention you will not be allowed to participate in the next game. If you receive four detentions you are off the team.

Dress Code:

Games and Tournaments: Black Spandex or Shorts, Black Socks, Jerseys, Kneepads, Shoes

Shoes: You need shoes that have not been worn outside to wear on the gym floor. These shoes can also be worn for your PE classes. Your shoes do not have to be new, but they do need to be clean. Hair and Jewelry:

The volleyball rulebook states it is against the rules to wear jewelry of any kind during games. This includes: earrings, barrettes, etc. We will follow this rule during practice as well. Help remind teammates to take jewelry off. If a coach has to ask you to take jewelry off you will do some extra conditioning.

Water Bottles:

Bring a water bottle with your name on it to practice every day. Water fountains take a lot of time. It may also be hot during the first couple weeks of practice. Please remember to fill it up before practice begins.

Traveling to Games:

When the team returns from an away game, a phone will be available to call your parents. If your parents attend the away game and you choose to ride with them instead of riding the bus; they MUST sign you off on a list at the game. If you need to ride home with another adult after a game your parent must call Mrs. Knipe prior to our leaving for the game and tell her whom your child will be riding with. Under no circumstance will it be allowed for any player to ride home with anyone but a relative or adult.

Additional Team Guidelines:

*We hope this doesn’t happen, but a player quits the team when they:

1. Use behavior that is disrespectful or vulgar willfully toward the coaches or other team mates at practice or during a game, or at a referee or the other team’s members or coaches.

2. Verbally say “I Quit” and turns in equipment.

3. Have 3 unexcused practices or 4 detentions.

*Attitudes must be kept under control.

* Work on your court awareness skills and knowing how to play the game. The best way to do this is to watch other teams play. When at games and tournaments, we will sit as a team and watch/cheer on other teams. You will be expected to use appropriate behavior at all games and tournaments.

*We are a team on and off the court!! We win as a team and loose as a team. We treat each other with respect at all times!! We are looking forward to a great season. We can’t wait to get to know and work with each of you. Remember to always bring a positive attitude with you to practice.

*If you ever have any questions/problems do not be afraid to come talk to me. I want this to be a positive and fun learning experience for you and your child.
