Paid Leave of Absence – Career Librarian
The provisions of Article 16.8 of the RFA collective agreement govern Librarian paid leaves
Eligibility:
●Only career Librarians with a minimum of six years’ service may apply.
●Librarians are eligible for a maximum of six months’ paid leave at 100% within a five year period.
●Librarians are eligible for a maximum of 12 months’ paid leave at 85% within a seven year period.
Application Submission Date:
●Application Form must be submitted to the Chief Librarian six months prior to the start date of the planned leave.

4.Outside Employment While on Paid Leave:
Librarians may engage in outside employment while on paid leave only to the extent that such employment does not interfere with the Librarian’s leave obligations to the University.

5.Attach a full description of the project and activities to be undertaken while on paid leave, ensuring it addresses the following:
- Summarize expected concrete outcomes of the leave, including a description of material expected to be produced, or work or study to be completed.
- Describe relevance of the leave to your professional development.
- Describe relevance of the leave project to the Library, students, and the University and how the outcome(s) will be shared with the Library and/or your unit.
- Indicate whether the leave will be spent in Canada or another country.
- Provide a work schedule (indicate time periods and location for each segment of project, if applicable).
- Provide the name and location of institution/employer with which you will be affiliated, and copy of letters of acceptance from them (if applicable).
- If you have previously received a Ryerson University paid leave, attach a copy of your last paid leave report.
