3 Definitions
Company requirements include the policy, procedures, and methodologies of the company. They include legislative and regulatory requirements which may apply across the company or to a specific site. Requirements are documented in the company’s health and safety plans, traffic management plans, contract work programmes, quality assurance programmes, policies, and procedural documents.
Materials include concrete, concrete blocks, masonry, stone.
4 Within this unit standard the term kerb line and channel is used to cover the maintenance and repair of kerb and channel, nib, dish channel, mountable kerb, kerb blocks.
5 Assessment is limited to the coverage of one option throughout the unit standard.
Elements and performance criteria
Element 1
Confirm requirements for the maintenance of kerb line and channel.
Performance criteria
1.1 Site conditions are confirmed in accordance with company requirements.
Range location, extent, drainage, environmental conditions.
1.2 Resources are confirmed in accordance with company requirements.
Range materials, equipment, workforce.
Element 2
Clean and inspect kerb lines and channel.
Performance criteria
2.1 Grit, debris, and detritus are removed from kerb lines and channel in accordance with company requirements.
2.2 Kerb lines and channel are inspected and the extent of repairs required identified in accordance with company requirements.
Element 3
Repair kerb line and channel.
Performance criteria
3.1 Damaged sections are removed in accordance with company requirements.
3.2 Foundation is prepared and lines and levels are set in accordance with company requirements.
3.3 Form work and concrete or preformed units are placed to line and level in accordance with company requirements.
Element 4
Reinstate the surrounding surface to kerb line and channel.
Performance criteria
4.1 The surrounds of kerb and channel are reinstated in accordance with company requirements.
Range pavement to channel, footpath or berm to kerb.
Element 5
Clear the worksite on completion of work.
Performance criteria
5.1 Surplus and loose materials are cleared from the site in accordance with company requirements.
5.2 Temporary traffic control measures are removed in accordance with company requirements.
