CONCENTRATIONS
Concentrations provide opportunity for more in-depth study in one aspect of this broad, interdisciplinary field. It is best that a concentration is identified as early as possible, but certainly before the start of the junior year.
All IARD majors choose one of the three concentrations, but the students can mix courses from each concentration if agreed with their advisor to add more discipline depth to this multi-disciplinary major
1.  Economics and Development
2.  Agricultural and Food Systems
3.  Environment and Ecosystems
4.  A combination of all three is also legitimate after consulting with your advisor

Economics and Development Concentration

Intermediate-level coursework in economics and development sociology serves as a foundation for upper-level study in the social sciences. Students considering future graduate study in economics, development sociology or development studies should consult their advisors concerning more advanced coursework in those and other fields, including mathematics. The following are REQUIRED courses for this concentration (16 credits or 5 courses plus seminar) chosen from list below, but others can be substituted. If you take one of the CORE required courses it cannot be counted here, choose another course. Other courses can also be considered in consultation with your advisor
