2.Terms of Reference

  • A mechanism for reviewing the AHP national workforce projections and identifying opportunities and implications or NHS Scotland.
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to stakeholder groups and NHS Boards in relation to workforce trends and opportunities that will support effective service delivery .
  • Oversee a range of SGHD workload/workforce projects, that impact on the workforce.
  • Provide a platform to allow debate on developing a fully integrated workforce with other sectors such as social care and education.
  • A mechanism for stakeholders to identify priority areas for investment in undergraduate and post graduate education and training in response to workforce demands and developments.
  • A source of expertise in relation to AHP workforce and education needs to support the work of Health Workforce Management Programme Boards

4.Equality and Diversity

The steering group will ensure that its actions and advice comply with Equality and Diversity legislation.

  1. Composition of the Group

The multi disciplinary nature of the initiative will require an appropriately representative group. The group will be Chaired by Chief Health Professions Officer.

  1. Delegated Authority

The AHP Strategy Workforce Group is authorised by SGHD to progress this work.

  1. Reporting and Communication Mechanism

A communication strategy approved by the strategic group will be in place.The minutes of this group will be distributed and progress/issues will be raised at the Health Workforce Programme Board

  1. Meetings
  • Co-ordination

Co-ordination will be through Chief Nursing Officer Directorate at the Scottish Government.

  • Frequency of Steering Group meetings

There will be 3 meetings of the group, October 2010, Feb and June 2011 in the first instance, additional meetings may be convened according to the business to be conducted.
