Dear Parents and Students,
Summer vacation is almost here! It is important to remember that students need to practice academic skills during these months. Due to the lengthy summer break, many students lose momentum with their academic progress and fail to maintain a healthy academic lifestyle. As a part of your child’s requirements for Tenth Grade Honors English, students are required to participate in summer reading assignments to promote continued academic practice.
This summer your child will be required to read and write multiple constructed responses to the memoir I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Talibanby Malala Yousafzai with Christina Lamb. Your child will also be required to research another young person who has changed the world and create a visual presentation to accompany their research. This assignment will be presented when we return to school in August.Attached are the summer reading requirement sheet and rubrics that will be used to evaluate your child’s work.
We encourage any questions you might have and look forward to teaching your child during the 2017/2018 school year. Our email addressesare listed below for your use. You may also contact the school directly by dialing (912)754-6404.
