You are travel agents trying to convince people that Pennsylvania is a great place to vacation. As you look around your travel agency, you realize that there are no brochures advertising PA. You and three of your coworkers decide to create one!
1st: Mrs. Lipton will assign you to groups of four. Each of you will choose one topic to research about PA.
o Attractions/places to visit- The group member assigned to research the attractions/places to visit must find at least 10 visitor sites. Some examples of visitor sites are museums, theme parks and national parks.
o Important historical facts- The group member assigned to research the important historical facts must find at least 10 historical facts that you think are important. You may include important people in Pennsylvania history, important historical events and any other historical facts you find interesting and informative.
o Interesting/Fun facts about Pennsylvania- The group member assigned to research interesting facts about Pennsylvania must find at least 10 facts. An example of this could be "Did you know that...". Your job is to simply find facts that many people do not know about Pennsylvania.
o Landforms/bodies of water and weather- The group member assigned to research landforms/bodies of water and weather will find information about any mountain ranges, and lakes or rivers. This person will also research the weather in Pennsylvania. Be sure to find the weather for each season.
2nd: You will need to put your information onto a graphic organizer. I have already created them for you.
3rd: Collaborate and sketch out an idea of what you would like your brochure to look like. You will use the computer to create a tri-fold brochure in Microsoft Publisher. You may use one graphic per panel, except for the front, where you may choose three.
o Decide what additional information should be on the front and back covers of the brochure. Remember, you are trying to convince people to come vacation here. Catchy phrases, pictures, and anything else that represents PA would work on these two sides.
o Each person will design one other “side” of the brochure displaying the information they gathered during their research.
