-International play games are 2 x 45minutes halves.

-Stoppage time is the time which is wasted during the game e.g. during substitutions, where the clock is still running and is added on at the end to make up for lost time

-Yellow card: In high school if you get a yellow card you have to leave the field for a substitution. After you are substituted out you of the game you can re-enter the game during another substitution.

-Yellow card: International play if you get a yellow card you do not have to be substituted out of the match.

In both high school and international play if you receive two yellow cards they become a red card. (See red card)

-Red Card: A player is removed from the match for the rest of the game, they also have to sit out the next game. When the player is removed his or her spot can’t be filled the rest of the game. The team must play a person down for the rest of the game.

How to restart the game of soccer.

-Goal Kick- occurs when the attacking teams kicks the ball over the endline. The ball is placed on the ground at the top of the goal box. Usually the goalie put the ball back in play by kicking it from the ground.

-Corner Kick- occurs when the defending teams kick the ball over there own endline. The ball is placed at the corner arc of the field closest to where the ball went over the endline. The ball is put kicked into play by the attacking team and this type of kick is a direct kick.

-Indirect kick- a type of kick that can’t be kicked directly into the attacking goal without touching a player from either team first. This kick usually occurs after a handball or dangerous play. Except if hand ball is in the penalty box.

-Direct kick- a type of kick that can be kicked directly into the attacking goal. This kick can occur after some type of physical foul. Tripping, pushing, or charging an opponent.

-Penalty Kick- may be awarded when a defending player commits a foul punishable by a direct free kick against an opponent or a handball, within the penalty area (commonly known as "the box" or "18 yard box"). This type of kick is one player from the attacking team against the defending teams goalie. If the ball is saved or hits off the goal without going out of bounds the ball is live. (although it can’t be played by the person taking the penalty kick until another player touches the ball).

Throw in- occurs when the ball goes over the side line. The team that didn’t touch the ball last puts the ball into play by throwing the ball in with two hands over their head. This is the only time a player other than the goalie can touch the ball with there hands during play.

Drop ball- similar to a tip ball in basketball. The ball is dropped by the referee between a player from each team. The players each attempt to gain control of the ball.
