O.M. Irwin Senior Boys Volleyball 2017

Congratulations players and parents on making the Irwin Sr. boys Volleyball team! We are looking forward to seeing our team grow and succeed throughout the season. Below you will find some important dates and information about the year:

1) Tournaments: Below we have listed the dates and locations of tournaments we will be attending. Your attendance is vital for tournaments & playoffs. Please honor the dates below. In order for us to be competitive and successful, we need your commitment.

2) League: All our league games will run after school on Mondays.

3) Transportation: Players will be responsible for arranging their own transportation to league games and tournaments.

4) Practices: Wednesday from 3:30 – 5:00. We may add in an additional practice from time to time. This will usually depend on whether or not we have a tournament coming up. The players will be notified ahead of time if this happens. Also, if the player is going to miss a practice they need to notify a coach. Again, attendance is extremely important.

5) Fee’s: $40 for team fee. $40 for jersey deposit. Please make the jersey deposit a cheque. This will not be cashed unless the jersey is not returned at the end of the season or is damaged!

6) Playing Time: Playing time will NOT be equal when it comes to tournaments and playoffs. Our goal as a team is to put forth the most competitive lineup possible in these situations. Mr. Wong and Mr. Siemens will do this as they see fit, giving us the best chance to succeed. It may look different from tournament to tournament.

During league play we will use an equal approach to playing time. This will often be used as time to develop players who may not get as much playing time in tournaments and playoffs. Our goal is to get players to a level where they can be utilized in a variety of different situations. If there are any questions regarding this topic before the season begins on Tuesday, September 26th. Please contact either Mr. Wong or Mr. Siemens for any clarification.

October 20/21st – Swift Current Invitational

October 25th – Sub-sectionals (Gull Lake)

October 28th/29th – SuperVolley (Swift Current Comp & Irwin)

November 4th – SWAC district FINALS (if we advance from our subsection. Location TBD)

Nov 6th – City Playoffs (for banner)
