Our Ref MB/DMB 3 March 2016
Dear Parents/Carers
I am writing to provide a reminder about the parent information evening for the Iceland trip.
The meetingwill take place on Monday7th March at 6.30pm in the Main Hall. During the evening we will explain our plans for the trip, show slides taken on previous visits, discuss clothing required and go through things such as code of conduct. This is an important meeting and we expect every student and his/her parents to attend.I hope to be able to distribute the final booklets and telephone tree on that evening too.
Passport and EHIC cards – Thank you for providing me with this information. If you were not able to provide me with this information, but you now have it, could I ask that you contact me with the details? I need the passport number, issue date and expiry date.A reminder of what I wrote in the previous letter is provided below:
Every child must be in possession of a Passport. If your child does not have a UK Passport you will need to ascertain if any visas are required and apply for these. Crucially, passports must have a minimum three months left before expiry on the date of entry to Iceland (24/7/2016 is the day we arrive, so the passport must expire after 24/10/2016) in order to be allowed into the country. Please check your passport very carefully and renew it if necessary.(However, a recent check on the FCO website suggests that you don’t need extra time left on your passport – it is still better to be on the safe side though). Please do not leave this until the last minute.
Every child will also need a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). The easiest way to apply for one of these is online .
It is a condition of the insurance that every child is in possession of a card. It is your responsibility to ensure that your child is in possession of a passport and EHIC. Please apply in plenty of time for this. Failure to comply will result in your child not being able to travel so please act now!It is worth noting that EHIC cards do have an expiry date, so please check carefully.
I look forward to meeting you on Monday 7th March at 6.30pmand in the meantime if you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me by email ().
Yours sincerely,
Mr M Bamford - Geography Department
