Density Logic Puzzle

There are seven boxes (an orange box, a pink box, a yellow box, a navy box, a green box, a violet box, and a blue box). Each box has a different mass (6 g, 76 g, 24 g, 8 g, 69 g, 75 g, and 21 g) and a different volume (65 cubic cm, 2 cubic cm, 152 cubic cm, 7 cubic cm, 2 cubic cm, 100 cubic cm, and 17 cubic cm).

Directions: Fill in the chart identifying the mass, volume, and density of the seven colored boxes.

  1. The density of water is 1.0 grams per cubic cm. If the orange box was placed in water, it would float.
  2. The volume of the green box is not 65 cubic cm and it is also not 100 cubic cm.
  3. One box has a volume of 7 cubic cm and a density of 3 grams per cubic cm.
  4. The navy box has a greater mass than the violet object.
  5. One box has a volume of 2 cubic cm and a density of 3 grams per cubic cm.
  6. The pink box has a volume of 100 cubic cm and a density of 0.75 grams per cubic cm.
  7. The volume of the pink box is not 17 cubic cm and it is also not 152 cubic cm.
  8. One box has a volume of 17 cubic cm and a density of 1.412 grams per cubic cm.
  9. The volume of the orange box is not 100 cubic cm and it is also not 2 cubic cm.
  10. The volume of the violet box is not 152 cubic cm and it is also not 100 cubic cm.
  11. The violet box has a volume of 2 cubic cm and a mass of 6 g.
  12. The navy box has a mass of 24 g and a volume of 17 cubic cm.
  13. The blue box has a volume of 2 cubic cm and a density of 4 grams per cubic cm.
  14. The density of aluminum is 2.7 grams per cubic cm. The green box is denser than aluminum.
  15. The pink box has a greater mass than the green box.
  16. The density of water is 1.0 grams per cubic cm. If the yellow box was placedin water, it would sink.
  17. The yellow box has a volume of 65 cubic cm and a density of 1.062 grams per cubic cm.
