Step-By-Step Online Job Search:
Below are some step-by-step instructions for using Indeed and Craigslist to search for open positions. At the end of this document, are additional links to other job boards, staffing agencies, and government job search sites. Additionally, follow this link to access Global Talent Idaho’s Employer Network List on Google Docs to explore specific companies in GTI’s employer network.
Indeed Online Job Search:
1. Click the link www.indeed.com
2. You can search ALL jobs available by leaving the ‘what’ box blank and only filling in the ‘where’ box as you see below and click ‘Find Jobs’
3. If you want to narrow your search you can add a key word or words in the ‘what’ box. Once you start to type if indeed will provide a drop down of suggestions for you to use. You can use those suggestions or chose your own key word or words
4. Choose your key search word or words and Click ‘Find Jobs’
5. Click on the jobs to learn more about the description, job requirements and application process and requirements
6. When you find job you are a fit for and interested to apply, carefully prepareyour application materials – tailored resume, tailored cover letter and any additional online application needed.
- Be sure to sendthe job description, your resume and cover letter to your GTI coach and/or GTI mentor to review before you submit your application.
Craigslist Online Job Search:
1. Click on link https://boise.craigslist.org/
2. Click on ‘jobs’
3. You can look at ALL jobs posted by leaving the search bar blank – default is ‘search jobs’ in the search bar
4. To narrowyour search, add a key word or words that are relevant to your interest and click the search icon. In the example below, I used the key words ‘heating and cooling’. You can use others like HVAC, heating, air conditioning, heating and cooling, etc..
5. Click on the jobs to learn more about the description, job requirements and application process and requirements
6. When you find job you are a fit for and interested to apply, carefully prepareyour application materials – tailored resume, tailored cover letter and any additional online application needed.
7. Be sure to sendthe job description, your resume and cover letter to a native English speaker to review before you submit your application. Gina (GTI) and Stacey (IDOL) are great resources to review your application materials.
