Welcome to Computer Skills and Applications CSA 6207
Prospect School Course Syllabus Teacher: Hannah Moore, CTE7th Grade Class
This course is composed of instructional modules designed to provide hands-on instruction in basic keyboarding skills, computer concepts and software applications. The software applications include word processing. Communication skills and basic mathematical concepts are reinforced in this course.

Students utilize Typing Web to practice typing skills by working through the Beginner Lessons. Sense-Lang is used to take online typing tests and assignments. Edmodo is a website we utilize for the students to access their assignments and submit their assignments to me. Please note that this can be accessed from home for more practice.

Your grades in the course are based on your performance and the overall grade is determined by the following scale:

§ Homework 10%
§ Bell Assignments 5%
§ Class Participation 20%
§ Class Assignments 25%
§ Tests/Quizzes/Notebooks or Projects 30%

Class Rules Posted – Student Handbook
§ Report to class promptly with all materials ready before the
bell rings. Travel to assign station. Take out pencil
and paper. BE READY!
§ Avoid food, gum, drinks, CD, Radio, MP3 player, Cell phone, and etc.
Vandalism of school property will result in disciplinary action.
§ Report any problems concerning your computer to Ms. Hannah. When class is over leave station organized.
§ Internet Safety: Students are not allowed to access any
Internet activities without the teacher’s permission.
(Surfing, email, games, etc. will not be tolerated.)
§ Respect each individual as students and teachers. Do unto
others as you would like them to do unto you – be kind
and courteous. Good attitude is a plus for success.
Absences:
If you miss class, it is the student’s responsibility to ask about missing assignments and to make them up. Students have 5 days to make up any missed work or test (unless arrangements made by Teacher). A zero will be given for any work not made up within 5 days of work given.
Incentives:
Rewarding positive student behavior is very important. Cat’s Cash will be rewarded daily.
