Rape & Domestic Violence Services Australia provides 24/7 telephone counselling services for anyone in Australia who has experienced or is at risk of sexual violence, family or domestic violence and their non offending supporters. Face to face counselling services are also delivered at Women’s Health Centres, NSW. Proactively we raise awareness through education programs and with our Full Stop Foundation. We deliver Vicarious Trauma support programs to people working with trauma.

Following this exciting news, we are recruiting senior leadership roles and opening a new service location in Penrith. We are looking for a Team Leader to join our team in providing leadership, supervision and day to day support to our counselling team.

You will join a growing organisation with more than 100 employees in clinical practice, project and training work and a $10 million plus annual turnover. We are growing due to the Australian National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010‐2022.

About the Role

You will guide a team of Quality Assurance Assistant Supervisors and Shift Supervisors to produce excellent quality support to clients and counsellors. As a Team Leader, you will provide high quality clinical supervision, vicarious trauma management, quality assurance and professional development for your teams.

You will develop and maintain an awareness of the current levels of expertise and knowledge held by the Quality Assurance Assistant Supervisors, Shift Supervisors and counsellors within the organization, and you will use this knowledge to ensure that your teams receive quality support. You will hold responsibility for ensuring the timely development, review and implementation of clients’ therapeutic plans.

You will utilise your leadership qualities to facilitate team meetings among the Quality Assurance and Shift supervisors, and will provide relief in other supervisory roles across the organisation. You will work with the Senior Counselling Services Manager to develop and review counselling services policies.

Your Skills and Experience

Rape & Domestic Violence Services Australia anticipates that you will possess front line leadership and team building skills, developed through extensive experience with mid-sized teams of direct reports.

In order to be successful in this position you will have tertiary qualifications in counselling, psychology, or social work. These qualifications will be complemented by a minimum of five years counselling experience and a detailed understanding of the causes and consequences of sexual, domestic and family violence.

You will have experience in quality improvement, reflective practices and policy development, alongside knowledge of and experience in clinical supervision models. You will be able to speak and write fluently and persuasively, adjusting your style and approach to optimize outcomes and inspire confidence in counsellors and the team. You will have a demonstrated experience in conflict management and resolution, and you will use these skills to develop and detain effective working relationships with and between the Team and counsellors.

This experience and approach will be accompanied by practical skills in needs analysis/skills audits and statistical analysis regarding counselling service outcomes.

Ideally, you will have experience managing a team of professionals from social work, psychology or counselling profession.

Salary and Benefits

This position attracts a base hourly rate of $57.50 plus superannuation, leave loading andaccess to generous NFP tax concessions - specifically, a salary packaging scheme offering up to $15,899.94 of your salary tax free.
