Congratulations on your successful audition for the 5th District All-District Band! We are looking forward to putting together an outstanding weekend of music-making and activities culminating in a wonderful concert performance.
Please turn in the attached permission slip to Mr. Wise by Thursday, January 5th along with a $30.00 participation fee (checks made payable to OCMS 360). It is extremely important that this deadline be met by all participants so that plans for the clinic weekend can be finalized.
The participation fee covers music expenses, clinician costs, as well as helping to pay for busses. You will be responsible for purchasing lunch (we will travel to a fast food restaurant). Lunch Saturday afternoon will be provided by the OCMS Band Program.
Friday, January 6th
8:00 am Arrive at OCHS BAND ROOM
8:15 am Load buses (all OCMS students on Bus 2)
8:20 am Leave for Martha Layne Collins High School
9:10 am Arrive MLCHS; unload
Report QUICKLY to rehearsal area
9:30 am Rehearsal
NOON Lunch (fast food near the school)
1:30 pm Rehearsal
5:00 pm Rehearsals end
5:15 pm Leave for home
6:00 pm Home Sweet Buckner
Saturday, January 7th
Bring your OCMS BAND UNIFORM with you!!!! We will not be returning to OCMS before the concert. Our buses will leave after transporting us to and from lunch, so don’t leave anything on the bus!
7:30 am Arrive at OCHS BAND ROOM
7:45 am Leave for MLCHS
8:35 am Arrive; move to rehearsal area
9:00 am Rehearsal
NOON Lunch (we will provide pizza and drinks)
1:30 pm Rehearsal
3:30 pm Rehearsal ends; dress for concert
4:00 pm Concert
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN TRANSPORTATION HOME AFTER THE CONCERT. THERE WILL BE NO BUS TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE AFTER WE ARE DROPPED OFF SATURDAY MORNING.
- Look through your music; make sure you have the correct mutes, sticks, mallets, small percussion items, etc. DO NOT get to Friday morning without having played through your part a few times!!!!!
- Have a pencil—you’ll need it.
