Meetings and Events Industry Associations Announce Industry Week 2013
Associations to Provide a Week of Educational Opportunities
Atlanta, GA – October XX, 2013 – Five of the premier Atlanta area meetings and events industry related organizations are combining talents to provide an unparalleled week of educational experiences. Meeting Professionals International Georgia Chapter (GaMPI), Georgia Society of Association Executives (GSAE), International Special Events Society Greater Atlanta Chapter (ISES), National Speakers Association Georgia Chapter (NSA-GA) and the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) are proud to announce the formation Industry Week 2013.
Industry Week 2013 will kick off on Saturday, November 9, 2013 and continue through Saturday, November 16, 2013. Seven events over seven days will provide industry professionals opportunities to give back to the local community, make new professional and personal connections and participate in one of a kind educational opportunities.
The events, dates, locations and details are listed below:
ACFB Food Sorting Day Volunteer Event
Saturday, November 9, 2013: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Atlanta Community Food Bank
The first food sorting day of the 2013-14 GaMPI year is set to take place on Saturday November 9th from 9 a.m. to noon at the Atlanta Community Food Bank. A huge success, our last sorting day involved over 30 GaMPI members who sorted over 6,000 pounds of food that would go on to feed 9,000 individuals in need.
GaMPI's Fall Classic Golf Tournament
Monday, November 11, 2013: Golf 11 a.m. - 5 p.m., Reception 5 - 7:30 p.m.
Polo Golf & Country Club
Fall Classic is a powerhouse of networking opportunities for planners, suppliers and sponsors alike. You don't need to play golf like a pro to get the most out of your participation either.
GaMPI November Workshop: Social Media
Tuesday, November 12, 2013: 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Join a panel of peers and experts to learn how to integrate social media into all facets of your work and life. Workshop attendees will have the opportunity to interact and learn from various levels of experts.
ISES Greater Atlanta Chapter: Networking Aerobics
Tuesday, November 12, 2013: 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.

15th Annual Atlanta Hospitality Hall of Fame
Tuesday, November 12, 2013: 6 – 9 p.m.
The Foundry at Puritan Mill
The 15th Annual Atlanta Hospitality Hall of Fame will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 6 p.m. at The Foundry at Puritan Mill. Please join us as we induct Ken Bernhardt, Marketing Consultant; Herman Russell, H.J. Russell & Company; and Debby Cannon, Ph.D., Director, Cecil B. Day School of Hospitality Administration at GSU in the Hospitality Hall of Fame.
In addition, we will award ACVB’s Member of the Year and Volunteer of the Year. Member of the Year finalists include Fifth Group Restaurants, Grits Bits and Shepard Exposition Services.
GSAE Luncheon and Tradeshow: Getting Out of the Membership Box

Associations are stuck in the membership box and they are struggling to find the way out. To move their organizations forward, association leaders must think differently about how value is created in a world of digital ubiquity, as well as the kinds of relationships they are willing to co-create with stakeholders who are benefiting from the power of networks. This keynote session will question some of the association community's most orthodox beliefs and will challenge participants to make innovation happen by harnessing the forces of transformation.
NSA-Georgia Chapter Monthly Meeting
