OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE

·  Membership recruitment face to face

·  Fulfilling an advocacy role as the public face of Cheshire Wildlife Trust

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

------

MEMBERSHIP RECRUITMENT (FACE-TO-FACE)

·  To recruit new members to Cheshire Wildlife Trust to an agreed target and contribute to membership recruitment and income targets.

·  Excellent people skills to pro-actively engage with the public.

·  To recruit new members for Cheshire Wildlife Trust face-to-face at Trust events and any other agreed venues, trialling new sites and developing relationships with key individuals at those locations.

·  Encourage new members to sign a gift aid declaration.

·  Responsible for the collection and safeguarding of new member personal details in accordance with the Data Protection Act.

·  Aid membership retention by engaging in a positive way with current supporters.

·  The enthusiasm to maintain current knowledge of our work through our website, social media platforms, publications, materials and regular fundraising team meetings.

·  Good record keeping skills, in order to complete the weekly membership administration, ensuring proper record keeping, handling of financial data & payments and management of resources.

FUNDRAISING

·  Assisting with traditional fundraising activities such as sponsored or promotional events organised by Cheshire Wildlife Trust.

·  Working closely with the fundraising team to implement new and imaginative fundraising activities, often event-based.

·  Promote market and advertise our forthcoming events and appeals.

·  Raise awareness of Cheshire Wildlife Trust and the Wildlife Trusts at both a local and national level.

·  Ensure all fundraising equipment is maintained and kept in good condition.

ADVOCACY

·  Display and distribute the most up to date Cheshire Wildlife Trust information and promotional materials.

·  Fulfilling an ambassadorial role for Cheshire Wildlife Trust, keeping up to date with the Trust’s success stories and sharing this information in an accurate and enthusiastic manner.

·  Ability to work in a dynamic team and work closely with the Membership Development Officer & Donor Relations Officer to maximise membership recruitment opportunities.

·  Work closely with other membership recruiters operating for Cheshire Wildlife Trust, including working together and supporting colleagues at events.

·  Promote the Trust whenever possible, providing accurate information about our work.

·  Represent Cheshire Wildlife Trust in a professional and informed manner at all times, whether engaging with members of the public, staff & volunteers, or any other supporters.

·  Run simple interactive activities that promote the work of the Trust.

·  Abide by all Trust policies.

·  Support and provide information to the public on key national and regional campaigns and PR initiatives.

·  Undertake appropriate training as agreed by your line manager.

·  Undertake other duties as requested by your line manager and in line with the post.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Working Conditions:

Salary: / £ 8 ph + 20% commission (with gift aid) and £8 ph + 15% commission (non gift aid). Commission rates are dependent on gift aid commitments being made at the point of sale. Commission will be paid on the total value of those members for whom we successfully draw payment.
Pension: / CWT operates an employee pension scheme which is available to the post holder. The post holder will be eligible for employer’s pension contributions of 10% on completion of the probationary period
Hours of Work: / Part Time/Flexible (based on a minimum commitment of one day per week). Due to the nature of the position, hours will be determined by events, a seasonal programme and anticipated not to exceed 4/5 days a week during peak season. Hours to be agreed with the Membership Officer in advance.
Duration of post: / Initially 6 months with scope to extend, dependent on performance. Performance management will be based on a target of an average of 2 new members per day.
Holidays: / The holiday year runs 1st April to 31st March. Holiday entitlement will be pro-rata based on a full time allocation of 20 days per year, plus Bank Holidays, plus up to 3 specified days over the Christmas period.
Place of work: / CWT Head Office, Bickley Hall Farm, Bickley, Malpas, Cheshire SY14 8EF
Transport: / The post-holder will need to have a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle for business use, for which a mileage allowance after 20 miles will be paid.
Mobility / Fitness: / The post-holder will need to have a reasonable level of fitness and mobility and be able to set up stands and display boards, spend time outside and sometimes work on uneven terrain.
