Purpose of Document
The purpose of this document is to capture enough information from the customer to start Phase I of the web site development process. Phase I defines what the web site will be. This document becomes part of the contract for Phase I.
Deliverables Phase I
Items identified as Template become engineering documents when the instructions are replaced with web site content. Documents are used to maintain and upgrade the web site over its lifecycle. Reports are delivered to the customer during the Specification/Design Document development to insure understanding of the web site requirements. Once approved by the customer, the report content is incorporated into the Specification/Design Document. Reports are discarded when the “Specification/Design Template” becomes a document and is approved by the customer.

Internet Services Provided by Developer – Phase I
This engineering effort depends on the Internet for most communication both between project team members and between the project team and the customer. This is accomplished by having a secure web development area. Only the customer and project team can access this area. The work area includes:
a. Secure location for the web site during development. Access will be limited to customer and development team. Web site testing will be performed at this location.
b. Secure location with project and engineering documents that can be downloaded. Document status will also be provided.
c. Secure location with the project schedule that can be read from the browser
d. Public web site detailing project management and engineering processes

Business History
The business provider is a yoga instructor living and teaching yoga in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She offers private individual or group classes at her home studio or at an outside location, corporate yoga programs, special events and public classes.
Michelle has been teaching yoga since February 2008. She has been teaching an average of 10 public classes per week, has had several private clients. She has also done special events such as teaching yoga at a L’OREAL PR event and participated in planning yoga events to support local charities. She writes a monthly column on yoga for a local magazine and does various jobs modeling yoga clothing and demonstrating yoga postures for magazines.

The yoga studio that Michelle Lloyd currently works at is going out of business ending May 31, 2008. This web site will be used to support Michelle’s livelihood and will rank high priority on the project schedule.

The following information is considered preliminary and provided during proposal development. The information will be developed in depth after contract award and documented in the “Web Site Requirements/Design Document”.
High Score on Search Engine
The business marketing plan calls for advertising, distribution of flyers, phone marketing, business site visits, and a web site. The web site address will be included on flyers, stationery, and business cares. However, most web site visitors are expected to arrive via a search engine. For search engines to be effective, the web site must score high with the search engine and deliver the web page within at least the first 10 sites. To insure a high search engine score, the following design criteria will be followed:

a. www.jamesdomingo.com - I like the simplicity of this site, easy to navigate. For his profile and content sections I like how the text box comes on the page and the scroll bar on the side if needed.

c. www.vivekkevin.com - I like the way they present their press sections. How the main screen dims and the file opens above the page.
Functional Requirements

Web Site Content Plan
Content is the heart of a web site and can represent a significant amount of effort to acquire, produce, and format to make web ready. The developer and customer will designate a single point of contact from each organization to exchange web content. Unless otherwise stated, the customer will provide all web content. The project schedule defines when the content is due. Multiple delivery schedules may be required due to design maturity and content development schedule.
