DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Within delegated authority, the local doctors at this level will be responsible for the following:
•Work in the walk-in clinic & the nursing facility.
•Undertake day-to-day clinical duties, e.g. walk-in clinic, respond to emergency calls, immunization, etc;
•Refer staff to outside specialists as necessary;
•Follow-up with outside specialists;
•Shift duties including nights and weekends if required.
•Ensures safety of the patients in performance of duty.
•Communicate with patients and updates the CMO.
•Maintains patient’s records and exercises confidentiality.
•Accords patients fair and equal treatment regardless of ethnic background
•Provide health education.
•Participate in addressing work environment and occupational health issues;
•Actively contribute in planning and organizing preventive and promotive medical fairs.
•Perform other related duties as required.
•Handle upper respiratory emergencies attending UNMIK HCC.
•Provides day-to-day medical care in a flu screening center including preventative care to all upper respiratory diseases
/cases.
•Organize and deliver flu awareness and update influenza pandemic situation to UNMIK staff and CMO.
•Management of Influenza cases for outpatient and admitted patients liaise with the relevant group including WHO, IPH
for H1N1 sample testing.
•On call for emergencies when and as required.
Medico Administrative Duties:
•Liaise with local facilities in Pristina and the regions
•Follow the United Nations established policies and procedures regarding medical clearance, sick leave.
•Follow the UNMIK Health Care Center established SOP e.g. HIV/AIDS testing (VCCT), referral procedure, etc.
•Keep clinic detailed statistics as per Medical Support section instruction.
•Translate medical document as required.
Supervisory Duties:
•Supervise the medical team during on-call duty ( nurse & paramedic)
Work implies frequent interaction with the following:
•UNMIK HCC patient
•Staff at large; staff within work section;
•Staff counselors;
•Physicians and nurses outside UNMIK.
•Personnel section regarding medical clearance and sick leave
Results Expected:
•Achievement of goals and objectives through the provision of high level of medical support to insure the sound physical and mental UNMIK staff.

•Planning and organizing- ability to establish priorities and plan, co-ordinate and monitor own work plan.

multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect diversity.
•Communication- Good interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
•Commitment to continuous learning- Willingness to learn to keep abreast of new developments in the medical field
•Technological awareness- Solid computer skills and good knowledge of relevant medical databases.
For Managerial Positions:
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: at least 8 years of progressive clinical experience in the medical field and hospital, Experienced in Emergency Medicine and experience working with the UN as a medical doctor is required. Experience in HIV testing (VCCT) is an asset.
Education: First degree in medicine. Residency in one of the medical specialties is preferable in Emergency Medicine plus technical interview
Languages: Fluency in oral and written English; knowledge of a second official UN language an advantage. Good Knowledge of Albanian and Serbian language

While this temporary assignment will provide the successful applicant with an ideal opportunity to gain new work experience, the selection for this position is for a limited period and has no bearing on the future incumbency of the post.

Internal candidates for this purpose is defined as staff members currently serving under 100 series appointment who have been recruited after a competitive examination under staff rule 104.15 or after the advice of a Secretariat joint body under staff rule 104.14. External applicants may be considered when it is not possible to identify suitable internal candidates of the same department/office.

Please note that external candidates are generally not entitled to be appointed at the advertised level of this temporary vacancy and will therefore be graded in accordance with the current recruitment guidelines. This means that the grade may be at a lower level than that of the advertised level of the post.
