Rugby & Northampton Athletics Club: General Committee Meeting

1.  Matters arising

1.1  Use of Princethorpe for XC meeting: still outstanding.

1.2  Keys for athletes using Rugby: still outstanding is a list of key holders.

1.3  YDL at Swansea: Total cost was £5,000, £1290 so far received in contributions with some still outstanding.

1.4  Club Championship planning: Being held on 13 September at Rugby Track starting at 1200 (registration from 1100). To be mailed out to members later in the month.

1.5  Winter training: Better information available at September meeting

2.  Northampton Track

2.1  Rumours that there have objections to track. Application submitted in June and will go to September planning committee. Will take 6 months to build but 9 months allowed for contingencies.

3.  Rugby Clubhouse

3.1 Lease: PC discussing with RBC on 5 August. BT raised question over responsibility for rubbish bin at track. Said not to be the responsibility of the Leisure Centre (according to them). PC to raise with RBC.

4.  Finance

4.1  Subscriptions comparison chart circulated: recent upturn indicates that this year’s budget should be met.

4.2  July 2014 transactions: noted in line with budget.

4.3  Statement of accounts: to end of July noted

4.4  Budget reviewed for year and on course to meet budget.

4.5  EA Invoices for coaching courses. Noted Ian Gidley + 4 on course at MK.

5.  Membership

5.1  New members proposed and all 41 accepted by the committee

5.2  Member stands at 985 members, Rugby 526 and Northampton 459. Qualified coaches 86, qualified officials 26.

5.3  Outstanding renewals from April (108 last month) reduced to only 54. These have l now been suspended. 18 Outstanding from June.

5.4  Letter from John Gercs, proposing Honorary Membership for George Goodwin - declined

6.  Competition

6.1  YDL LA – Rugby 19 July

Club finished 2nd, affected by weather, now in National Finals

6.2  YDL UAL - Swansea

26 athletes not available, depleted team still finished 2nd.

6.3  Seniors – Midland League – best overall performance of year, 3rd overall 4th on day. Birmingham and Notts relegated.

6.4  Vets League – Nuneaton

Lions: Men Won by 9 points overall winners with maximum 4 wins from 4

Lions: Women won by 36 points, overall winners.

Both Trams win the East Division Champs

At Cup Final in Stoke on 31 August.

6.5  Noted only R & NAC, Blackheath and Bramley have teams in both finals of YDL

6.6  Seniors – need to encourage more U20s & U17s to compete...

7.  Governance

7.1  Complaint from RW regarding email from RB. RB had subsequently apologised for his misunderstood comments. Committee saw no reason for taking the issue further.

7.2  2015 London Marathon places: agreed that previous policy of ballot for available places stands. One place, at the discretion of the committee may be given to a members who has given significant time and effort to the club over the past year.

8.  Road Races

8.1  Rugby 10. Need for more volunteers for marshalling and help overall.

9.  Communications

9.1  Website: Club records updated

9.2  PR Support and Sponsorship: Still working to find sponsors. YDL final lower age group sponsor for T shirts. Upper age group no sponsor so far.

10.  Welfare

None

11.  AOB/Correspondence

11.1  Charity of the year: Agreed that should be local rather than a national charity. New charity every 12 months. This excludes events such as Myton 5 miles race which is already aligned to a specific sponsor, Ready Steady Run which ½of proceeds to nominated charity and Santa Run which is 50/50 split with Rotary Club.

Agreed that the clubs charity should be Warwickshire/Northamptonshire Air Ambulance for 2015

11.2  TE raised County Correspondence: NAA –U13/U15 Inter Counties team competition. Do any R & N athletes compete for Warwick’s. Club would be interested, TE to advise NAA. Other main NAA clubs would also need to be involved
