Primary purpose of the job: /· To use person centred approaches at all times
· To be responsible for the hands on delivery of the service, including attending to the personal needs of people supported.· Contribute to national occupational standards of care to meet physical, emotional, social and leisure needs.

1. Provide a warm, welcoming, positive and enabling environment for all who use the services.2. Promote the health, safety and wellbeing of vulnerable adults/children in line with Safeguarding policy and procedures.
3. To undertake training as required by the job or as directed by the Service Manager.
4. Undertake all aspects of personal care as required.
5. Assist people supported with their eating and drinking needs, in line with people’s individual care plans. Assist with meal preparation and serving of meals.
6. Assist in ensuring all areas are safe, clean and hygienic at all times.
7. After ‘Accredited moving and Handling’ training, provide support as directed.
8. Support individuals to develop life skills including risk management to encourage and enable greater independence.
9. To support people to look at moving away from their dependence on services to access community resources and mainstream services.
10. Support of specified activities e.g. relaxation, therapies, drama, leisure pursuits, community activities, volunteering options etc.
11. Support and encourage individuals to develop particular identified skills e.g. educational development, life skills, employment skills, self help skills (horticultural, janitorial, catering, retail, customer care, promoting independence, shopping, menu planning, budgeting, safety and security aspects etc)
12. Support of individuals to attend and participate in forums, meetings, project groups, awareness raising, service delivery and design.
13. Contribute to the observing, monitoring, recording and reviewing process for individuals who access the service.
14. After accredited training or in accordance with service guidelines, policy and procedures deal with emergencies and administer emergency first aid.
15. Contribute as requested to care and support planning.
16. Provide support as directed with additional health needs e.g. diabetes, epilepsy, dementia, dysphasia.
17. Participate as directed in planning and implementing activities, including the local communities.
18. Act as key worker as and when required.
19. To liaise with members of the commissioning team and other professionals, families and friends and contribute to meetings as required.
20. Contribute to the general health and wellbeing of individuals through Health Action Plans, promoting healthier life styles etc.
21. To maintain records and prepare reports as required (financial, behavioural, progress) and to notify line manager of any concerns, change etc.
22. Administer and record medication in line with policy and procedure.
23. To be prepared to undertake duties across provider services to meet the individuals’ needs of the service, being able to work flexibly as required by the services to meet those needs.
24. The post holder must carry out their duties with full regard to Aspire’s Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, and Community Strategy policies.
25. To require and ensure all information received and disseminated, whether verbal or written, concerning all employees, prospective employees or clients, is treated in the strictest confidence, and that all such information held is regulated and controlled in a similar manner.
26. To act at all times with due regard to Aspire’s Health and Safety Policy and related Codes of Practice.
27. To undertake any other such duties that is reasonably commensurate with the level of this post.
28. In Supported Accommodation, you will be required to work on a rota basis, which includes evenings, weekends and Bank holidays as required by the needs of the houses. To which enhancements are paid.
29. Sleeping - in duties and waking nights are a requirement of employment and will form part of the rotas.
