SUMMARY

The Target Store T 2259 at 3100 14th Street NW in Washington, DC was inspected by Thomas Branham of Elevator Consulting Services, Inc. on October17, 2012. My QEI number is 1339 and I am certified by NAESA. NAESA is the National Association of Elevator Safety Authorities. We have identified corrective items that in our opinion need to be addressed by the Elevator Contractor. They are free to offer an explanation or dispute any individual item within the report but we can offer a reasonable reason for each and every negative evaluation. They are evaluated on and for the ASME 17.2 Code for Inspectors Manual and industry standards for acceptable installation and maintenance procedures.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Passenger Elevators 8A & 8B

1.Repair AC to the machine room ASAP.

Cart Conveyors

1.Remove lockable gate feature.

2.Put a sign on the door in the machine room providing access to the maintenance well way of the cartveyors, “Danger / Authorized Personnel Only”, so we can have a door that can be locked and secure and yet still used.

Escalators

  1. Install a corner bracket or bollard at the bottom exterior corner of both units. The floor machines keep hitting the handrail inlet shroud.
  1. Re-insert the bottom right handrail inlet shroud of unit 6 back into the decking correctly.
